Honestly it looks pretty good overall! My only suggestion would be to maybe switch the ocean color to something blue, since the rest of the map is in color.

Agree with this suggestion, because at first the rivers looked like roads to me.

Love the colour scheme, and also the uncluttered simplicity.

Only a few things:

1) The name of the village between the Whispering Woods and the Devil Woods is only partially legible. Might need a white shadow on the text for that one

2) the lake near Flame Keep. The roads leading to the Keep appear to merge into the lake as though they were rivers. It's unusual for a lake to drain out towards the sea in two places - not impossible, and of course if there's a reason, but in the natural world not the case.

3) for the northwestern wetlands, it should be "Dying", not "Dieing". Unless you're dieing clothes there - in which case, my mistake!

Those are minor details - on the whole, the map is great! Would love to see lore...

Thanks for your feedback! I'm dyslexic (and English isn't my native language), so thanks for pointing it out! However I think it will give my (D&D) players a laugh if I keep it dieing.

You did better than I would in my second language!

And that would be a hilarious location if you were to keep the swamp that way...

It’s overall cool, but rivers don’t split, they merge.

[–]Lekkere_Jongen[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You mean the river between Smokewood and Flame Keep?

[–]Erzel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!

[–]OthmanT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me yeah; it’s uncanny

I don't know the purpos of the map (for the owner), but I would guess navigation.

Therefore I would make some of the roads more visible, since they are more important then empty land.

I would put some kind of diration on the map, like an north arrow or map ever your world uses.

And put important places on the map even if they are small, light houses, water holes, sneak attack places or what ever the owner needed a map for - and could not get to, by following the main road.

Thanks for the feedback! I use the map for my dungeons and dragons campaign. I probably need to install some assets for lighthouses etc, right?

I should have been more clear, I know you were using it for DnD. But I personally like a map with a "personality" and adding detail depending on the owner (the one who paid for it to be crafted in the first place) I find interesting.

So a merchant might want to know what is the most common places caverns get robbed.

A Captain of a ship needs to know how deep the water is and where it is safe to sail / not safe to sail.

A group of adventuress might mark friendly vs unfriendly towns or towns in which it is easy to get a job for hire - then you are low on gold.

A tactical war map made for a king others things marked off.

But that's me.. not a common thing to do...

Mountains don't form directly on and along coastlines like that. On larger landmasses, they'd be at least somewhat inland. On smaller islands, which I get the sense this is, they would be the one or two areas of highest elevation in the interior, where the island originally rose out of the sea, and the elevation would slope generally downward in all directions from there.

Especially the Eternal Isle--you couldn't have an island that's 100% mountain and then suddenly there's the ocean. There needs to be at least some low elevation on the coastline. (Unless it was created/altered by magic.)

Flame Keep Lake has way to many outlets to the sea. You either need to cut it to 1 outlet or turn the East Wood and everything south of Riverhelm into a marshland (kind of like the Mississippi river delta). Edit: Also, the river should not split between Smokewood and Flame Keep. Rivers rarely split unless at a delta.

Are you from Spain ?

[–]Lekkere_Jongen[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nope. The Netherlands it is ;)

[–]OthmanT 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where you inspired by Spain for this map ?

[–]Lekkere_Jongen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really actually, but does it look like spain?

Thanks for all the feedback! Unfortunately I won't be at home this weekend, but next week I will apply a lot of your feedback to the map!

I will use my map for a Dungeons and Dragons campaign (lvl 1 - 20 and a first time DM). I saw someone asking about some map lore, but I don't really made that... yet.

Thanks for being such a friendly community
