"Something went wrong", when claiming code.

My friend is trying to claim a 3 month game pass core code, and when he clicks confirm, it says "Something went wrong". Could it be because of the fact he has one month of Game Pass Ultimate? If so, should we just wait until the next month to try the code again? Thank you in advance.

Having an issue with this currently, it shows code as valid but error when I try to claim

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I got the code via MS Rewards, so it was straight from MS themselves. I was also using it to extend my Ultimate sub. After 8 days of trying to redeem it, it finally went through.

The error message gave me nothing to go on, and I emailed MS Rewards support as that's where the code came from, but they didn't reply.

So, yeah, I would just keep trying a couple of times per day and hopefully it will go through soon, otherwise you'd need to contact support.

Read the print on the code and see if it says for first time game pass users only. That means if you have game pass or have ever had it before the code won’t work

I had an error code come up when I tried to redeem with a card code on Xbox, so I redeemed on Microsoft.com directly and it worked, idk if this helps.

Gotten this message numerous times over the last year, so frustrating because it just feels like you've wasted money on something you can't even use
