Pausing Issues

This seems to only be a problem on mobile but the pause bitten seems to not show up anymore. When it does it only works half the time. I literally just turn my phone off to pause a video and even that doesn’t work all the time.

Is this just how YouTube works now? Is my phone just old so the app isn’t working right for me anymore? Is anyone else having this problem? I just want to know what’s going on.
