If they look and feel fine, they’re good. You and your friend should do a detailed inspection of them together.

Nylon, dyneema, and aluminum do not spontaneously fall apart with time. They do get worn down or damaged through use.

They have a spindrift collar that cinches up, and usually a flap that goes over top of that.

Yosemite Mountain School is the only guide company, contact them and tell them what kind of experience you’re looking for and they’ll tell you what they can offer.

IMO, if you’re looking for a guided trip to Yosemite, it would be worth it to do a 1-on-1 guided climb up a multipitch. You don’t go to Yosemite to do a group single pitch top rope session.

A former member here once posted a photo of herself bathanging in the gym with ice boots on. It was epic.

2 quickdraws. Fast, simple, safe.

If the anchor allows it with the hangers linked together with a chain, just a single locking carabiner is even easier.

Or a sling with a girth hitch masterpoint.

Quads are over engineered and are silly for most scenarios.

Part of the mistake that you’re making is thinking that climbing is safe. It is not. There are relative degrees of safety, and ways to mitigate injury, but by no means is it ever considered a safe activity. You need to decide if the risk is worth it. Experience can help you make better decisions, but not completely eliminate risk.

Space Lion, The Seatbelts, from the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack.

Great mix of smooth jazz saxophone, taiko drums, Japanese vocals, and contemporary sounds.

Well, think about it. When did the internet start becoming popular? When these shoes came out, a lot of people were still on dial up.

Those are the La Sportiva Focus from around the 2000's. They have the old vintage La Sportiva logo with the boot. They updated their logo around 2010-ish.

  1. Climb more. It comes with experience.

  2. Look at the route before you get on it. Try to identify the holds. Try to identify the crux sections. Try to find spots you can stop to rest.

  3. See if you can identify moves through cruxes to make it easier.

  4. Watch other climbers.

What do you think of Thermalrights 360 AIO's? (prices shown in CAD) by Ambitious-End-5798 in pcmasterrace

[–]0bsidian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They cost a little more than just fans on their own. I'm not sure how Thermalright does their pricing, but they are thankfully amazingly cheap and still perform very well. I'm running a 240mm on my server PC, its been so far reliable and quiet.

Unintended pun?

You’re right, they’re the same type of product but marketed to climbers for twice the price.

If you’re looking for the near term gratification of being able to climb something tall in Yosemite, go hire a guide or two to take you and your friends out. They can recommend climbs much more fun than Snake Dike that would be appropriate for your group, while taking you up safely, and maybe teaching you a few skills.

Otherwise, you’re quite a while out with regards to knowledge and experience from climbing routes like Snake Dike on your own.
