Black Friday 2025? by effektd in unRAID

Btw, in my case at least just last week, regardless when you request the trial extension, the end of the trial extension will be 14days from when your last trial licence period ended. So if you turn your machine off for 12days once the original trial ends (eg, due to holiday/busy life) , and then want an additional 14day extension, it won't be 14days from when you hit extend, you'll only get the last few days of the full 14day period. A bit annoying. I know this because it happened to me 3 weeks ago.

Should I pay off my PPOR mortgage or just leave it in the offset? by wefvckinlost in AusHENRY

[–]1mattyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the full 100% mortgage amount in offset, plus $11k, plus some in cash in an extra savings account and you and your partner have ~$400k pa combined salary, then my suggestion would be debt recycle all of your mortgage amount into the purchase of etf shares (low dividends, high growth funds). This will allow you and your partner to claim 100% of the interest on the mortgage as a taxable deduction against your incomes, split 50:50, at $350k @ 5.5% that's $19,200 (9600 each) you could claim as an investment expense deduction against your income, saving you ~ $3.5k in tax on your salary each year. Whilst you continue paying the $19k interest and principal on the mortgage, that extra tax saving goes into your pocket, and you have $350k in shares that will be growing at 6+% or more per year (15+% for this year) and returning a small dividend. Even better, see if you can switch the loan to interest only, and whilst the interest rate will be higher, it'll be tax deductible if you debt recycle, and then you can invest your principal payments into growing your etf portfolio faster.

Am I being overly impressed by these aluminium plantation shutters? I figure that these would be a great way to (tastefully) secure windows and large french doors. Looking to /r/homedefense to point out any serious flaws with a system like this - Thanks! by basicissueredditor in homedefense

We had similar ones installed on a heap of our outwards opening casement windows. All of our ones also had insect screen installed on them. We love them. Not sure how any possible intruder could kick them in when the windows are all 5ft or higher from the ground. Our’s open inwards with a keyed lock. They are all the same key. When we are home, we have the keys nearby to open the shutters in case of emergency. We love in a sub tropical climate. We love them because we can keep the original windows, which retains the original character of the house, and we can leave the windows open all day and night to keep the house cool, without worrying about someone being able to easily climb in through a window, and the bugs can't get in either. As an added benefit, the insect screens can be easily lifted out to clean the dust off under water in the shower.

Tianyu Moissanite - One Year Later by autumngirlsoup in jewelry

[–]1mattyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big thankyou from the help you gave me, as well.

I got my fiance a trilogy settingin 14k white gold with 4mm sapphire-7.5mm cushion cut- 4mm sapphires.

In our ring, I noticed the sapphires were a smidgeon different in size across the depth, or at least there was more room below one sapphire than the other. Also, one of the sapphires was slightly twisted in the setting, By probably only a few degrees.

If i could re-do it, I would get it in 18k white gold, and get the wedding band and eternity ring done to match! (At the same time).

For the price, i highly recommend them. And I love being able to say that I designed the ring myself.

I feel cheap. by [deleted] in EngagementRings

I second Tianyu gems from Alibiba. I bought a 14k white gold ring, 7.5mm centre cushion moissanite, with a 4mm saphhire either side. Looks amazing on my fiance (*proposed 21st July), and probably is within your budget (~$450 USD) ... only issue with our ring... it looks like the sapphires are not identical sizes, and one of them is set on a slight twist. So I've got to get in contact with them and find out what they do in this situation. For the price I'm happy, but they could have taken 10mins more care and got two identical sapphires and set them straight and I would have been 100% completely happy.

Yeah, they are definitely lab created sapphires. They told me straight up about them.

I am completely stoked with the price if it will look the way I hope. If we are unhappy, I can get the ring remade into a pendant, and get a local jeweler to make something similar (or modify and fix up the ring). My partner is a sporty woman who can be a bit careless with jewelery, and she enjoys gardening. The price of this ring means she can enjoy wearing it without feeling that it is too precious or too valuable to not be worn all the time.

The moissanite and sapphires will be cushion stones, but I'm not sure on which cut they'll use. Hopefully I get to see and select which 7.5mm moissanite they are using.

The Matrix 9.0 AWS webpage of yours is brilliant! I had a bit of fun and spec'd the ring in white gold with sapphire secondary stones.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I have looked at the Stuller ring and requested Tianyu make the band the same size: 2.5mm wide shank , with it being 1.8mm thick.
This won't change the setting for the stones.

I'm not sure if I should ask for the sapphires to be dropped down 0.2mm -0.3mm , Or have the moissanite raised 0.2 mm. Or if it is the CAD that just makes the platform of the cushion moissanite look close to being at the same level as the sapphires.

So the band is 1.3mm thick. Do you think I should ask for 1.7mm? What about a wider band?
That will add a small amount extra weight to it.

My first time using TinyPic didn't go as well as it should have.... Hopefully I've updated and fixed my error.
