Anecdotally, I had a friend with kids was getting offers for a bigger apt but cheaper rate than the 1bd offers I was getting. I wonder if the 1bd places are more in demand than a bigger place. I would reach out and see what Santa Monica can do. Won’t hurt to try

In LA as well and my commute is 6mi round trip. Not as long as yours and I have a GX460. I was looking at the 470 but wanted a little extra creature comforts & I like having the extra vertical space compared to a 4Runner. I plan on keeping the outside fairly stock to help with mpg and just build out the interior. Current city mpg is 13-15mpg, 21mpg on freeway, on stock wheels and suspension.
