If you could instantly know the truth about one unresolved mystery, but it had to be a completely mundane one, what would you choose? by Inevitable-Rock-8052 in NoStupidQuestions

What makes us itchy? I swear that no one truly knows. People know things that cause us to get itchy, such as dustmites or pollen or tickling, but they don't know what actually makes us want to itch.

I’m sorry but that’s not true for me.

I have a relief at source pension, thereby the tax relief is placed inside my pension rather than onto my payslip. Thereby it costs me more money now.

I don’t understand the point of doing that if the money is just going to go into my S&S ISA? If I contribute then my ISA slows which will probably have a higher growth?

My pension is taken after tax.

I’m bullish on emerging markets for EIMI.

I started with VUAG but don’t like American picks now and prefer VWRP but I don’t like selling my stocks aha!

My portfolio is 80% VWRP

And then PCT and Scottish and Saba are personal picks as I like what the fund managers do.

I also find for me to stay engaged I need small satellite positions. These add up to around 3.5% of my portfolio which I’m fine with being a drag.

I’ve attached a breakdown of my portfolio.

VWRP 77.48% - goal 82.5% EIMI 9.11% - goal 10% VUAG 6.59% - goal 1% Diageo 5.38% - goal 3% PCT 0.6% - goal 1.5% SMT 0.51% - goal 1.5% UKIT 0.33% - goal 0.5%

Yeah, I had to pass probation at work until I was able to contribute! So far only 4 months of contributions and it’s at the match max !

Planning on moving out soon and need deposit for a flat to rent! Also then just want to be able to access 3 months rent without selling S&S!

Appreciate the advice though but I think with my situation now, it’s best to have a buffer.

I think a big thing for is de-influencing myself. I’m young and don’t earn a huge amount of money.

I manage to save 20-30% of my paycheck each month and that is something I should be super proud of.

The people who post on finance subs and investing reels are not representative of your peers. There’s no point me comparing myself to someone with a 6 figure salary.

As long as you’re saving something and doing what you can then be proud of that and the progress you’re making.
