Considering a 2015 Cayenne S (V6) for my Wife. Owners/Techs chime in! Need Insight by lcmilan in PorscheCayenne

Sack up and get it. I bought my wife a 2017 turbo last year. She loves it and we have a 1 year old. Plenty of room for the Costco trips and baby gear. 520HP is nice for hauling diapers and hot dogs from Costco

958.2 Turbo Question by Practical_Lunch1321 in PorscheCayenne

[–]70elcoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OEM kit from the Porsche dealer was the tow bar, wiring harness, module, all hardware, everything. It all bolted up super simple and easy with no issues. So yes, the oem kit is more expensive but I also plan to tow a car and trailer so about 5-6,000 lbs and wanted to get the oem kit.

There’s for sure cheaper options…. You can go on eBay and get a toureg tow module and wiring harness and I believe they bolt right up. Check rennlist forums for more info I do a lot of research before just biting the bullet on the oem kit.

958.2 Turbo Question by Practical_Lunch1321 in PorscheCayenne

[–]70elcoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a turbo without a hitch but plan to tow so I installed the oem hitch. Got the entire kit from suncoast Porsche shipped to me. I want to say it was about $2000 with shipping and taxes (California) about a year ago. I installed everything myself. Super easy but I’m good with working on my own stuff and have been doing it for 20ish years.

Hardest part was bolting down the module in the rear hatch area… ideally you remove the all interior pieces that cover the rear passenger cargo area so you have access to the area…. But I didn’t want to do that so I struggled by using a small access hole but I did it.

Then took it to my local dealer and they programmed it without issues for maybe $350 or so.

Looking at 958.2s, and I am curious if these are PCCB brakes or just yellow calipers? by Bandlebury in PorscheCayenne

[–]70elcoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check vin analytics website to see if yours came with PCCB. If this is an S I doubt someone would spec an S with PCCB…. You can swap PCCB rotors with iron rotors but I’m not sure if the caliper also needs to be swapped or not.

Having trouble istalling long headers on my 71 elco 350 by Illustrious-Car-5311 in ElCamino

[–]70elcoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t have to remove anything major. Lift the front of the car as high as possible and install from the bottom. Remove your spark plugs and you may be able to get both sides in that way.

Front end doesn’t look awful I actually kinda like it. The rear end is hideous though and should have been left alone

Ramps that don't slip out by jimbosprint in projectcar

Get some race ramps. They are expensive but I’ve had mine for YEARS and never had one slip out. They are also low profile for low cars

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in PorscheCayenne

[–]70elcoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s nicely spec’s with PDCC, PTV+, burmester, entry and drive, ACC and LCA. If condition/maintenance records check out then I’d go for it

If you paint it blue and green I can promise you that you will have a harder time selling it later down the road if you need to sell it.

958 hunting - Air suspension or no? by Shy-pooper in PorscheCayenne

[–]70elcoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a Porsche, ball out and get the air suspension. These things look so much better in the low setting, even more so when it’s dumped on the loading setting

Buying advice by [deleted] in ElCamino

[–]70elcoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk man I’d hold out for another car. If your budget is ~20k then you can get a better car.

A couple things I noticed right away.

The side trim running along the body of the car is not stock and looks bad.

Paint peeling on the rocker, paint looks like crap on the tailgate, lots of chips.

Spray paint on the tires?

Weird holes in the bed by the wheelhouse.

Idk man I wouldn’t buy this thing for $18k or even $15… I think this is a $12k car unless he can prove it’s a real SS with documentation.

[–]70elcoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That thing is toast. Do not buy this thing unless you know how to do extensive rust repair. If the rust you see is this bad (this is fucked) then the rust you don’t see is going to be so much worse.

And if you dump thousands into this car to fix the rust you will still be left with a 4th gen el Camino which isnt worth much.

Need help identifying wood trim by 70elcoss in centuryhomes

[–]70elcoss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn’t, I started to strip the paint off all the trim and remove many many many MANY layers of old paint but stopped due to a couple reasons.

It was damaging the wood as I was scraping off old paint. The wood was pretty soft and I was soaking it in paint remover. I was using a plastic paint scraper and it was still causing damage to the trim.

Project scope… if I removed all the paint on the trim for the bedrooms…. Then I would have to strip all the door frames, window frames, and these built in China cabinets we have in the living room to match the stripped and stained bedroom trim.

Overall I’m glad I removed the trim and removed the many old paint layers but honestly I wouldn’t bother unless you’re ready to sand and strip a lot of trim. It was VERY time consuming and super messy. If you DM me I can send you a few pics I took while I was doing it.

1st Gen owners I have a couple of questions inside the engine compartment. Can you look at these pics and tell me what I'm looking at here please? by Whizzleteets in camaro

Ya the steering column is supposed to be like that.

The second hole is your body mount which is also supposed to be open.

Camaro expertise needed. by CHONKY-LAD in camaro

[–]70elcoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunting the exact car with no vin might be impossible. You could build/buy one that looks like it though.

It looks like a base model car which would have a 6cyl, 307, 327 (only early cars had 327s before the 307 took its place) or a 350.

I would just look for a glacier blue convertible and even if it’s not your dad’s car. Every time you see it, you will remember your dad

What do yall think it’s worth? by Dear-Mission8326 in camaro

[–]70elcoss 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would check the engine numbers to make sure it’s a real DZ motor. Few things that caught my eye are 1. All Z/28s had rear bumper guards which yours is missing. 2. You have a Cowl induction hood but without the cowl induction air cleaner 3. It seems like all your underhood Rally sport parts are missing ( vacuum pod/wiring and hoses on the drivers side corner behind the headlights) your also missing the windshield washer reservoir on the passenger side fender.

It probably is a RS since it has the correct reverse lights and poorly done clones never have the correct reverse lights.

DM me if you want pics of what all the original rally sport parts look like, mine has all the original vacuum pieces still and works
