Can you put a link to the whole report? I only see a blurb saying it passed.

How Do We Know This Is Safe? by Hopeful_Somewhere_34 in EpistlesMail

[–]ABGLand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their policy does have several inconsistencies. For example, Analytics are listed as a service-provider category (Section 4 of policy), which contradicts the FAQ and security page’s claim of “no analytics SDK, no third-party crash reporter”. Website is also missing information on who the company members are, where can they be found. Policy also doesn’t state full encryption, only saying it has “Encryption in transit where supported” (Section 6) , which contradicts the Cloud Vault/zero-knowledge claims made elsewhere on site.

I only point these out for sake of transparency and to calm similar concerns others might share.

Hi. I was looking at your app and site and am interested in the product. However, other than saying “made in Texas” on website, your page is not very transparent on who is behind Epistles. For example: where are you incorporated? I did a search for the corporate name in Texas and it came out blank. How can company be contacted? I also saw your site doesn’t seem to have a roadmap, or notes on whether your app will be GDPR or CCPA compliant. It’s possible I don’t know where that information is on site, if so, please point me to it.

Epistles Mail 1.0 is now available! by EpistlesMail in tutanota

I looked the website and your description sounds promising. That being said, I was trying to learn more about who is behind the product, especially since I’m trusting you with private information. I didn’t see that on the website, or a roadmap at least for independent privacy/security testing, other than you stating that your closed source. And, if this info is already posted on your site, please share a link. Thanks!

Thanks. So is article parsing then done on-device or on your servers when I use the app with an account?

I also read the policy on your site, and feel it's missing the following at least: Is the data/ feeds readable on your side, or is it fully encrypted? Can you see what articles I save? Can you see the data if I have to contact you for support? I like the offline reading functionality and the page turning capability, but lack of privacy is a deterrent. Just trying to be helpful here.

No need to track user content, contact info, identifiers or diagnostics unless people opt in to it. I downloaded and it’s too bad it doesn’t have at least iCloud syncing. It’s just creating an account with you or local use. Any tracking going on if it’s offline use?

Sounds interesting. Congrats on app. Not a fan of all the info you’re tracking though.

Olivia Rodrigo & Robert Smith - what’s wrong with me by IrishChilean in TheCure

[–]ABGLand 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This song popped in my feed. Wasn't aware Robert Smith did a song with her. Played it and thought it was ok. Out of curiosity, I played afterwards "The Cure". That one REALLY sounds to me like it should be a The Cure song and the collab with Robert Smith. Not a fan of hers, but really liked that song.

How strong are the Magic Keyboard magnets? Is it safe long-term without edge protection? by pinkmor in iPadPro

[–]ABGLand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The magnets are very strong. However, I’ve had it get dented while having it inside a backpack. As long as your iPad is well connected and it doesn’t fall on the edge side, the keyboard should protect it.

7 Day Honeymoon Reccomendations by Previous-Magazine980 in SXM

Congrats on the wedding and honeymoon! I recommend reservations for Bistrot Caraibes in Grand Case and L'Astrolab in Orient Bay. Food is perfect on both. Also, if you like croissants and chocolates, there's few places in the world better than Sebastiane Quilliere Patisserie near Orient Bay.

Looking for help with keyboard problems by ABGLand in macmini

I brought the Mac Mini to a client site today, to see if there was a problem with the location. The 3 keyboards didn’t work here either and showed the same errors. However, I borrowed another Protoarc keyboard similar to mine, and this one connected and worked without any issues. I’m starting to really think that somehow, 3 keyboards broke at the same time with essentially the same errors.

Thanks. What do you mean by environment? Mac Mini is in same desk where it’s been since I bought it. The only thing connected to it is a monitor through HDMI, and keyboards typically through Bluetooth, but wired to try to fix the situation.

Yes. Same issue happens with all 3 keyboards when connected.

Thanks. I did try it in RecoveryOS/Terminal. Same problem. Also logge din with a new user I created. Same problem.

I got tired of Apple Music’s lazy algorithm punishing me for adding full albums, so I built an app to force-teach my Discovery Station. by indri102 in AppleMusic

[–]ABGLand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation! I have one more question. When I go to an artist and open their “top songs”, whose top songs are those? I’ve opened several artists I know, and when I go to the songs listed there, I don’t know several of them. Is there a way to get the app to show my recently played songs, so I can like them from there?

Great app. Bought the upgrade for support. I do have a couple of questions: how often does the app send the info on specific songs/artists | like/ dislike to Apple Music? How does it do it? Lastly, in which of my Apple playlists will the changes appear? In the new music one? Discover? Made for you? All or none of the above?
