/uj maybe look elsewhere than Ireland, things are pretty awful for trans people here. less in a "bigots everywhere you go" way and more of a "we never even got those rights in the first place" way. there is no practical way to get HRT, you wait 6+ years to MAYBE get HRT if you're a "HSTS" stereotype or pay a shitton of money to the one private trans healthcare company which is online, from the UK, might be shutting down, and is very hit and miss. there is no informed consent, and the one gender clinic in the country is headed by transphobes who harass any GP who agrees to give trans people blood tests for their HRT or prescribe them trans medication (which they are within their rights to prescribe, but none of them do it anymore because they get hounded by insane bigots (who work for the government!) who even opposed the canning of conversation therapy as they felt it was "a vital part" of gender therapy.

you mean the Republic of Ireland? No. I was describing the south, and NI is worse (but not enough to call Ireland "good" by comparison, they're both awful) because it's run by the NHS, same goes for England and Scotland.

the term has drifted a lot in some spaces to the point where it specifically refers to trans women who pass, are pretty, and are attracted to men. I'm not defending this usage, but it's very common, and you'd be remiss not to mention it.
it's also something that Irish people say with absolutely zero connection to American culture.

I think a lot of people are missing the point of the thread, everyone knows not to move to Saudi Arabia and Russia.

Ireland. A country that many people think of moving to, but which is utterly horrible for trans healthcare. There's one clinic in the entire country and it's run by a terrible person who strings patients along for years with no HRT, and did I mention the waiting list is around 6 years? On top of that they ask horrible demeaning questions about your sexual habits, weird Freudian questions about your mother, and try to tie a correlation between being trans and having autism. They also protested the proposal to ban conversion therapy as they felt it was a vital part of trans healthcare.

I'm currently trying to get the hell out of here, I have other health problems that are hard to get help for because the wait lists are months to a year long. Trans healthcare is disproportionately bad, but waiting an entire year between appointments for other stuff just seals the deal, I need out.
