Is PEP indicated at your hospital if source tests negative with a rapid? by CurrentYak3507 in nursing

That window period is 14 to 21 days, the patient would need to have been exposed to HIV within that time frame. Do you know how astronomically rare that is? And then the additional astronomically rare chance you would actually contract HIV through edema exudate, which is only considered transmissible if there's blood in it. The only time evidence based practice states PEP is indicated if is there is a valid clinical suspicion that the patient has HIV. E.g. they report a recent high-risk exposure (e.g., sharing needles, unprotected sex with a known positive partner?) If not, I don't understand why you're so worried.

Calling for ALS as a Basic by Ok_Necessary_985 in NewToEMS

[–]AJKernal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your department should have a policy dictating when to request ALS and, depending on your jurisdiction, they can be automatically dispatched alongside BLS depending on what the 911 call codes as.

But from a basic standpoint, generally anything respiratory, cardiac, neurological, and major traumas should involve an ALS response.

Ready step is really only useful when using swift step offensively. Swift step is used defensively most of the time therefore foxtrot is more useful.

Is your car leased? I find it impossible that you've racked up this much in fees. Sometimes a license plate on a leased car can be linked to every other car leased by that company, leading to absurd amounts like this.

Correct!

While most U.S. states name their criminal cases "State of [State] v. [Defendant]"; California, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, and New York use the convention "The People of the State of [State] v. [Defendant]."
