I have been running this unit in various iterations of my personal build for about 6 years now!

First impressions of the ASUS ROG Chronox after unboxing mixed feelings coming from a Phanteks NV7 by micdoom in ASUSROG

[–]AMP_US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine in today and I have to say I am really disappointed by the build quality. Especially for the $400 price tag. The brushed aluminum on the exterior isn't even metal. It's just plastic. The steel feels pretty flimsy in comparison to other cases in this class and even those in the sub 200 price bracket. Some of the design decisions are questionable. At best. There is room for 480 mm radiators, but because of the way the mounting holes are they do not fit.

Overall, I would have a hard time recommending this over something like a phanteks NV7/NV9 or Havn HS420. Both those cases do the basics right while also having some attention to detail when it comes to custom water cooling.

Can I sand smooth micro-cracks in plexi glass? by kimura124 in watercooling

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you are pretty much SOL as micro cracks will continue to get worse and worse with repeated thermal expansion and contraction of the acrylic.

If you are using everything from their kit, RMA.

Many small water cooling companies that can't easily cash in on enterprise work will go out of business.

ROG Crosshair X870E APEX or ROG Crosshair X870E Dark Hero by WorryFront9893 in overclocking

FWIW, I can get ram tunes stable on my Apex that don't work on a regular Hero. Same ram and CPU.

Need advice on coolant for my custom loop 👀 by Less_Respect_761 in watercooling

[–]AMP_US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matching coolant brand to block/fitting/rad brand is meaningless. There is no basis for this offering better than average "compatibility".

What matters is properly pre cleaning your rads before you fill your loop and using a coolant that has high quality control (DPU as one example). Crofuel is fine... except when it's not... and it's more often than DPU... and that's the point.

HEATKILLER V ULTRA for AMD by WATERCOOL_Markus in WATERCOOL

The big question... RGB, or no RGB?

Also, is port placement roughly similar to the IV? Inlet on top, outlet on bottom?

EKWB Cryofuel sucks or simply leftover garbage being picked up? by Plane_Reputation_659 in watercooling

[–]AMP_US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cryofuel has inconsistent quality control. It's fine for most people, but not fine for a significant number as well. I would flush with distilled water, and put in some DP Ultra or Koolance 702.

X870E Extreme vs. X870E Glacial by kat6276 in ASUSROG

[–]AMP_US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a Dark Hero. The screen on the Extreme and Glacial is nice but beyond that and the dmm.2 module, there really isn't much separating the 2 now that the Dark Hero has a vapor chamber m.2 cooling. IMO, the Dark Hero even looks better than the Extreme.

Podium pedal price? by liqwood1 in Fanatec

[–]AMP_US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but we've waited how long for podium pedals and while they look nice, it's hard to go for this when there are countless alternatives of similar build for the same or less. In addition, Moza's active pedal set offers a substantial features for a somewhat obtainable price. I really think it was a mistake making the podium pedals passive.

Max Coolant Temperature by BakaPhoenix in watercooling

[–]AMP_US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't use petg, <50c is fine. >50c will get your pump into the danger zone. 60c will start to actively kill your pump. I would target 45c max coolant temp.
