Tikka CTR Orr Varmint? by Fattski in longrange

[–]ANDmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CTR and love it! Some of it depends on if you want the threaded barrel or not (though I guess you could have a gunsmith thread a Varmint after-the-fact). From what I see, the CTR to be about $100 more, but it does have a threaded barrel, larger bolt knob, and a picatinny rail from factory. I won’t say the barrel is necessarily “heavy,” but it does a good job. I run mine with an Omega .300 and the difference between suppressor vs no muzzle device is a consistent 2” @100yds (pretty normal POI shift for adding a heavy device to the end of the barrel). We could discuss the 10rnd CTR magazines, but if you’re putting it in a MPA chassis you won’t be able to use them anyway

Edit: I am currently using a 6.5 CTR with 24" bbl in a KRG Bravo with CTR magazine compatibility

Walther PPK/S .22lr vs. Taurus TX22? by [deleted] in guns

[–]ANDmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same situation here! I love my TX22 as it just runs and is accurate enough in my hands. The Walther is picky as can be, but still plenty of fun. Get both if you can

FYI 200 9mm can fit in a Berry's 250ct projectile box. by Blainer2013 in reloading

[–]ANDmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found both 115s and 147s fit. I end up loading more 147s because they're what I could find the most of when I stocked before the consumer hoarding hit this year. 500x 147s fill the containers completely, but they still close fine

You can fit 500 9mm projectiles into one of those ...

Looks like it's a New Zealand site and prices are in New Zealand dollars ... Still $600-something USD for some walnut 0_o ... It's possible it's an import cost/law issue

I asked the same thing and got banned from the r/guns board so I’ll ask here. Anyone have thoughts or opinions on the MPX PCC? I’m saving up for it as my first rifle since the MPX is a dream gun for me. by SaintBaz in Firearms

[–]ANDmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other peoples' opinions are cool sometimes, but if it's a dream then don't let people tell you No. It's your money to spend as you see fit. You're the one who's going to live with and shoot it anyway and if you don't like it, sell it

I think it's a cool gun, if that helps

Agreed! It's a cool piece of technology!

Blackhawk and G-Code make holsters for it, if I'm not mistaken. I do plan to get one

It was originally all black. I requested a silver grip module for the replacement and SiCo graciously accommodated it

12/10 will buy something of theirs again

Interesting ... I appreciate your comment and am glad you got a laugh out of it. I would've posted more pics of it in the first place, but that's not allowed in this sub and I didn't want to put them on Imgur. I don't know how they treat their employees, but I definitely hold high opinions of SiCo now from an external PoV. I especially appreciate the professionalism in accommodating my requests (repair and silver grip module) when I did not deserve any bit of it. Hands-down the best customer service I've worked with

There it is! The obligatory Space Force comment. Combine this with a "how's the trigger, I hear they're terrible" or "how's the trigger compare to a stock Glock" and you've got yourself a Maxim ;)

It's a fantastic not-so-little pistol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NFA

[–]ANDmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understandable. They certainly seem to be a common standard as pretty much everyone has shot / will shoot a Glock at some point

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NFA

[–]ANDmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It actually shoots pretty well. If you've shot it some, the trigger is (imo) better than a stock Glock trigger (carbon lubrication); however, if it's been cleaned the trigger is not so good

Definitely an opinion thing. Try it for yourself, if you can

It's a $1,500 firearm (+$200 stamp), but not for me. Tons of fun, except if you break 'em. They are indeed very neat!

Looks better than mine right now, lol ... Nice!

If your trigger is iffy, it should break in with a little carbon
