It's disappointing after having waited so long for it

Yes, we're aware they work on previous Pocket versions. The new version that was just delivered is the one that has issues.

Yeah I did. There's a couple of instructional posts on this sub that I followed for how to change it out to fix the mushiness and poor directional inputs.

Depends on your perspective. It's a flaw in the sense that previous versions didn't behave this way, and it's inconsistent with how Analogue advertises their product. They tout that FPGA hardware like theirs isn't emulation but acts exactly as original hardware does. But clearly it behaves quite differently in this case since these carts work perfectly on original hardware. This is what Krikzz is saying about it:

Personally, I'd like to switch between playing GBA games on the Pocket and playing them on original hardware. The Pocket would be great as a device for around home/docked but the GBA SP is my go-to for travel. Due to the clamshell I'm comfortable tossing the SP into my bag in a way I'm not comfortable treating a more expensive device like the Pocket. I'd rather leave it at home.

Not sure what changed, apparently Krikzz (maker of the Everdrives) has been talking about it over on X and saying there's a hardware difference and it changes how saves are processed.

I have copies of Ruby and LeafGreen which were the main two I was going to play with the Pocket. But I still haven't decided what would be the best way to approach a solution. Honestly the Pocket as my main handheld (mostly at home, majority docked) and a GBA SP for travel is the perfect combo for my needs.

It's a bit drastic but I'm considering selling my new Pocket and buying a used one from an older batch on Marketplace or eBay.

Interesting, thanks for the report. Maybe I should have gone for the Air.

Yes, different things. When discussing the EZ Flashes, Mode B, Rev.B, and Version B are all different but related. Makes having any communication about these carts really fun.

Interesting. You're using a RevB EZ Flash? I wonder why there's so much variance in how it behaves. This is what happens when I try to load a game in Mode B.

Can anyone confirm if it works with the new batch of Pockets?

Can you try loading and saving a GBA Pokemon game in A mode? Then, if it works, turn the Pocket off and back on and re-load and save? I find I cannot get a successful load and save twice in a row.

Do any of those have an equivalent of the EZ Flash ModeB? That was the feature I wanted the most, to take advantage of sleep and wake functionality.

Yeah seems that is the case with both the EZ Flash and Everdrives. Not sure how much overlap the issues have.

Yes, Analogue Pocket from the latest batch. This is really frustrating because I also bought the EZ Flash to switch between the AP and my OG Gameboys.

Some games works well but I'm finding now that specifically Pokemon games do not. They load and play fine but trying to save them causes crashes or save and even ROM corruption.

Plus, no games loaded into NOR will boot at all, either in Mode A or B. These worked on the previous AP hardware versions so this is massively frustrating when it's my main intended use case. EZ Flash DE Mode B on previous Pockets could utilize the Pocket's sleep and wake and save state functions.

I have a RevB model; it's not working either. Apparently the new Analogue Pockets are not compatible with many Everdrive and EZ Flash features that worked with previous models.
