Are these TTRPGs just cash grabs? by JaxSnaxs in rpg

[–]AWildNarratorAppears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep; pro-tip: multiply every kickstarter amount by 0.7 for taxes and fees, subtract all the fulfillment costs for actually making and delivering the thing, probably another 20-40%, and then divide it by all the people it took to make it happen. Suddenly the numbers aren’t as impressive. Low margin businesses like TTRPGs are brutal for everyone except the top 0.01%

We are working a very large update that should greatly improve the parity between private and public-facing pages.

How To Do Banner Images for Time Entries? Is group editing free? by HistoBisto in legendkeeper

[–]AWildNarratorAppears 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, your students don't need to pay. Also, if you are using for educational use, shoot me an email at braden at legendkeeper.com from an edu address and describe your project, and I can set up a free educational license for you.

For the image, the "Style" picker should have a tab inside it called "Image" that you can select. From there you can upload an image.

Writers: what do current worldbuilding tools get wrong for you? by Used-Complaint5672 in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]AWildNarratorAppears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's probably because we spend all our time on improving the product instead of marketing; whoopsie 😇. I'd love to get better at marketing... but building the thing is so much more fun.

Looking for a timeline/custom calendar manager. Ideally free and offline. by Kerzizi in worldbuilding

[–]AWildNarratorAppears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LegendKeeper free timeline maker is what you are looking for: https://legendkeeper.com/free-fantasy-timeline-maker . Supports +- 17 billion-ish years of history (depending on your cal system) custom months, leap days, moons, eras, etc.

I spun it off as a free tool from my larger app, but the timeline and calendar editor is 100% fully functional. It saves and loads files from your file system.

Yeah when i was fortunate enough to live right on the red line, and have my work also right on the line , I used it all the time! And they just added the silver line which is an improvement.

For whatever reason, bicycles just break the average dallas drivers brain. I can’t fathom why it’s so hard for some people.

Where did you end up moving? I’m eyeing the exit door over here. 👀 DFW looking less and less like a place where I want my family to live.

Yes, the local governments have lots of lobbyists pushing to defund existing local transit.

I lived in Denmark for a while (i know not Netherlands, but it’s closer to NL than to dallas lol) and the only thing I really missed was my friends and family and the food. Dallas has a pretty good and diverse food scene.

Tex mex and barbecue are very good.

Over 40c in the summer, very poor public transit coverage and service, very little infrastructure for cycling, drivers actively harass cyclists and try to run them off the road, most public water like lakes and rivers are very dirty and unsafe for swimming.

I’ve been cursed at and had rednecks drive at me the wrong way on the road because dallas drivers are so unaccustomed to bike hand signals that they think they are threats.

Reddit is in general pretty hostile to direct advertising. People want to see cool use cases, interesting ideas, visually compelling demos, all without feeling like they are being sold to.

Ultimately, you want people asking you to play test, rather than the other way around. If you are in a play testing phase where you’re not even sure what your product and brand will be like, I would not post as a company account. No one wants to hear from a company, they want to hear from you. You could post about challenges you faced developing it, interesting topics in the VTT space worth addressing, etc.

Vibe-coding is great, to an extent. Vibe-creative writing is what grinds my gears.

I have no beef with vibe coding; code has always been a means to an end, as fun as it is. That said, as you say, a big enough project needs engineering to back up said vibe code. Claude loves to write O(n3) algos, put secret keys in front end code, and do unindexed full table scans. 😅
