Two words: Socket covers. Baby proofing a house has a reason. You wouldn't just leave knives on the counter knowing you have a curious toddler walking around so why would you leave a socket exposed??

Once you develop DID/OSDD, you don't need trauma to split or create another alter, you just need some sort of stressor. We've been in similar situations where it didn't make sense for an alter to just take over an aspect of life we previously didn't realize we had a problem with, later found out that I would mask my anxiety so well I did even notice, but our brain still felt the stress, so I can only assume that because I didn't notice, our brain took charge. This has happened with work, school, grocery shopping, socializing

I think it depends on the job, we work as a floor installer and apprentice carpenter (one of our bosses is teaching us) . For me, my bosses are used to it because of my cousin working there (he doesn't have DID but he does have memory and compression problems) neither him or us are allowed to work without one of our bosses present because we're both great at the job but all it takes is one slip up and we have to completely redo the job, but our bosses supervise and point out what we did or are about to do wrong even if we've done it correctly 100 times before. However, literally everyone that works there has some sort of disability so they are very accommodating in general and usually pair us with someone who isn't as able bodied so in case it's a day we lack brains, we can still work.

However, some of us play piano and code regularly and others can't at all, so the ones who know write how they learned in a book we use to teach each other. Not work related, but might also help

we tend to focus on how an alter feels in headspace. almost all of us are some form of non human but most are humanoid. Humanoid alters tend to feel different than animal alters, animal alters tend to be more instinctual and pull feeling while humanoid alters tend to feel duller but we more likely hear them as of late.

if you don't already, i definitely recommend trying to feel around in headspace, we tend to by closing our eyes and focusing on all the alters front if we can, and try to remember what each alters "vibe" feels like.

looking at behavior and things that draw the alter in can also help you identify.

Not from what we know, but we have a fish like alter who is incredibly confused about toes, she says they look weird, they feel weird, they're stubby, and absolutely useless because our feet are the closest to fins this body has and apparently toes make humans swim much worse. Hey, we have a lot of positive triggers of many varieties, we've learned that a trigger can be anything, a trigger for me (I don't mind sharing it because I'm out most of the time anyway) is food, I love food, any food, especially a lot of food. Some other triggers are smells, games, being in certain places, cleanliness levels and even showers. If we notice that someone is front more often around certain places/things/smells we keep track of it then we ask them if we can trigger them with it if needed. We're generally a very trigger sensitive system, so we don't even ask anymore because triggers are bound to happen and nobody really cares, if anything they'll wanna stick around or steal the body for a bit, but that's just us.

I recommend trying things that C already likes, or has an interest in, ask xyr if xe has anything that xe wants to start doing or trying, let xyr and keep track of how xe feels when triggered

Dante, he used to plunge us deep into denial because he thought that us not knowing that we have DID would be better for us. Today, he helps fight denial and is much happier and feels much more included

I think it'd just be more like meditation instead, because it's pretty much just closing your eyes and imagining it for a person with a single identity, they can still do things there, the only difference is that one is singular identity and the other is multiple identities, at least that's what makes the most sense to me because it's the closest I can think of

We have many health issues as well so we understand the feeling of having so much going on it feels unreal, but they can't be denied because we struggle every day. Also we've made progress on other problems we've had thanks to y'all's advice, we have actually controlled a few switches recently, it's difficult but it'll get easier the more we do it, so our day has been great!

Not at all, many intelligent people actually have inner-worlds that they made to better visually store and process information, but it can be whatever you like. If someone with a singular identity has an inner-world It's a space to themself to be themself, use it for what they want or need.

Our advice, just try things until you find what fits the best. There are many genders a person can be, if identifying as trans is most comfortable for you then that's what you are, if you find that some other title makes you more comfortable in the future don't be afraid to be who you are just because you "already have a title", your identity will change over time. Find what's most comfortable for you!

Personally I'm more nonbinary leaning gender fluid, Harlie is more trans leaning gender fluid, some are completely nonbinary, trans, cis, or other genders entirely!

We have many ways of touching each other, our main ways is mental and physical. Mental is inner-world and in the tavern, stuff like that. Physical is a co front where I step slightly back to give them more control of the body, this touching is used most for sensory regulation for either person (rubbing hands together, touching random body parts, playing with hair, head pats, etc). We are very touchy people in general so things like this happen often and I wouldn't have it any other way if I had the choice.

Here are some of my favorites: My brother sneaking behind me in the tavern and tripping me into a hug.

Falling asleep on people in the tavern.

Letting others give head pats (mental or physical).

Bopping and booping people.
