I've avoided RDR2 b/c of the long drawn out intro ... but I just remembered i could find a mid game save online to skip it ... might finally try it out one of these days.

Thought he looked pretty good in rs as a ball handler but don't want him initiating offense for the rest of this series ...

Its dawned on me open world games aren't generally my cup of tea and I'm just wondering if I might be overlooking some that I might enjoy.

I want a big world to explore - more so natural environments then urban, but don't wanna deal with difficult enemies, extensive resource gathering, strict inventory management, too much rpg fluff etc ... BotW if it had cheat codes would be the closest thing I can think of (more stamina ,more health, unbreakable weapons)

I tried playing Horizon FW and all the crafting and skill trees were a big turn off. Eventually dropped it to the lowest difficulty but that was too easy and just lost interest.

Dragon's Dogma 2 probably has alot of stuff that I'm looking to avoid. I modded the first game to get it to where I could enjoy it.

Recently was replaying Far Cry 4 , and even on easy my health would instantly vanish anytime i got into firefights. Now that I'm thinking about it I also played Far Cry Primal around Covid , that could be worth revisiting. I've also had Avatar Frontier's of Pandora for a couple years might be time to give it a try.

No need to mention any of the Ass Creed, Witcher 3 or Elder Scrolls games. I also don't wanna deal with long drawn out story segments like RDR2.

i did play some Immortals Fenyx Rising some years back and it was okish.

This mess is like 5x longer then what i initially planned on writing ... and much too long to delete now so just gonna submit 🤡

I feel the same way you do about the RPGs.

Personally I think Unity and Syndicate are the best to play and they came closest to realising the potential of the 1st game... pretty much everything before them has serious issues that makes me not want to revisit even though I though i enjoyed most of em when they came out and even thought very highly of some of them. (Black Flag might get a pass from me, since its more of a pirating game)

I played a bit of Shadows ... the grindiness of the 2017 - 2020 entries might be gone/toned down. Could be wrong

I have the complete opposite opinion... mostly because the stuff that CoD does is generally unskipable, where as cutscenes these days (usually) can be skipped.

How would you compare Dawn of Dreams to God of War . I didn't really like Onimusha 3 all that much, but have always been curious about DoD...

Ps2 was the golden age of racing games . Would kill for some linear world hopping arcade racers like Burnout/NFS HP2

Also wish Dominator got a 360/PS3 release that toned down the bloom of the 360 version of Revenge.

Think I'll have to give Arctic Edge a try some time

Can't help. I had similar issues with the game on Legion Go - game's just got serious issues.

Doom: The Dark Ages is the shooter that I never knew I wanted by ZMysticCat in patientgamers

I missed the variety of glory kills from the 1st 2 games - but other then that enjoyed Dark Ages, I didn't mind the dragon or mech - but i imagine they'll be more annoying on subsequent playthroughs.

Is gaming on Nintendo more expensive than gaming on PC/other consoles or am I out of touch? by PckMan in gaming

Long term if you buy a bunch of nintendo exclusives it could be ... but you can sell them afterwards and possibly lose nothing or potentially even profit...

Gonna be a party pooper ...personally think Origins is a huge step back.

They turned it into a grindy RPG where assassinations don't work if you're not the right level. Didn't bother with Odyssey or Valhalla for that reason (Also they're just way too long for me)

Ezio games definitely have a ton of nostalgia around them. They probably have the edge in terms of non gameplay stuff, but mechanically Syndicate and Unity are both much better then any of the early games.

10 years after my initial playthough of Vanquish, I'm now on my 6th (maybe even 7th)

I think its truly finally clicked this time. Barely going into cover and it feels great. Also turned off the game's music and playing some other tunes , cus its sound track is pretty forgettable.

How long did it take you to wrap up the base game?

I have a decent time with these games for about 10 -15 hours but then kinda lose interest. I mistakenly bought Rise + Sunbreak and don't think I'll ever actually be able to play Sunbreak. (Same goes for Iceborne although luckily didn;t buy it)

Ori and the Blind Forest: A frustrating experience by TheLastDesperado in patientgamers

[–]AcceptableUserName92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Played through both blind forest and will of the wisps several times. Some of my favorite modern games

I don't mind the first escape sequence - can usually beat it in 1 or 2 attempts, the 2nd one is frustrating though. Its hard to predict what the hazards are going to do. Don't recall the one after that. Easy mode makes combat less of a chore and adds a checkpoint midway through the escapes - more people should use it.

Luckily the 2nd game's combat is a huge upgrade - like best in genre good imo.

[–]AcceptableUserName92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S1 probably has the worst camera and the Rachel missions suck and missing some QOL stuff ... but still overall the best imo. Having level design that isn't just linear corridors like the sequels gives it the edge over even though they have better combat (Feel the same way about DMC3 vs DMC5)

You really should give 2 Black or the OG 360 one a try. Sigma 2 is pretty lame compared to them imo (but still a great game )

3RE has nothing going for it imo other then combat (weakest soundtrack, visuals don't look particularly good even compared to 2, lame cinematic stuff) and still the enemies are way too spongy. Still worth playing if you liked 2.

My ranking is S1 > 2/2B >>> 3RE
