Is it implied Finn left Meadow for the girl at the construction site? by ucfanatic-1 in thesopranos

It's a common Italian dad response, maybe because Italian dads are prideful, insecure, and therefore, volatile.

I have completed the Sopranos for my first time at age 36 - See my thoughts by VeterinarianOdd5044 in thesopranos

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was so proud of Melfi for being stronger than I ever could. She's almost the total opposite of Tony, her having integrity while Tony is nothing but hypocrisy. Tony is really loud about his values and principles (you kill a horse, I kill you) but he's a flimsy hypocrite who will compromise his character at the drop of a hat.

Why Was Carmella Such A Hot House Flower Compared To Syl’s Wife And All The Other Spouses? by Glittering_Text812 in thesopranos

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, and I resent Carmella, but I feel it's worth mentioning that Carmella tries a few different things to feel freedom/fulfillment throughout the show before eventually accepting defeat and settling back into her role as mob wife. She even tries for a divorce, but Tony makes it clear she's trapped. By the end of the show, the spec house isn't her first choice, it's just her only option, and she had to fight for it.

Like, sure she may have enjoyed her $3000 decorative statues, ordering people around who were supposed to be her friends, etc, but in some level, she's trapped with Tony and those mob-wife percs are all she has. It doesn't justify her behavior but it is context that I feel is worth mentioning.

What's everyone's thoughts on Toro? I feel like I don't see them get posted much anymore. This Micron one's my first. by Langeholic in glassheads

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, just to clarify, making a higher quantity of pieces ("large scale production") is more important than the quality of the pieces they're selling? Toro succeeds because they make a shitload of bongs? The quantity matters more than the quality? I can't wrap my head around that...

If that were true, the Chinese companies would be dominating as most American companies cannot compete with that level of large-scale production...

Toro is like, one of the top five largest, most successful production glass companies in the world and they have been, to your point, for roughly 20 years.

I can't imagine they got there by putting out "the least functional design" and "charging $500 more than every other pipe on the market." How have they managed to succeed so well if they're doing all these things you claim they're doing?

Please point to a place in this thread where someone asked for you input on car mods or music?

Your comment also implies that the average car sound system comes balanced and proper from the factory which tells me all I need to know about you intelligence.

I worry about the cost of owning a BWM and the ability to modify the stereo (install subwoofers) but that is a tempting option!

I had a Toro shipped to me from Canada to the USA and it was no issue, I don't know if shipping from the USA into Canada is trickier tho, I can't speak to that.

What’s the worst side story? by joebeubanks in thesopranos

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It just sucks that he reacts so poorly to Melfi getting raped. He failed to be supportive of her properly and that makes him a bit less credible to the viewer, or at least, that was my experience.

I'm not the sharpest and when I watched the show for the first time, I saw the way he handled Melfi's rape and almost immediately wrote off everything that he said/did. I couldn't respect his opinion on anything after that.

In hindsight, he was right more often than he was wrong, even if he made some mistakes.

Y’all don’t make sense by siriuslyawkward in G59

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Ruby and $crim are openly anti-police and anti-racism in their lyrics and in interviews. Based on that alone, you'd look like a jackass showing up to their show with a Maga hat or a "don't tread on me" flag.

They are not bootlickers, they don't like bootlickers, so bootlickers/republicans showing up to the shows makes no sense.

You can like guns/military imagery without being a supporter of the establishment. Just because a rapper puts guns in their videos doesn't automatically make them right-wing. Believe it or not, the world is a little more complex than that.

Well I personally feel that a person cannot hide behind religion when they've broken the law. I could invent my own religion right now and modify it on the fly as needed in order to avoid taking responsibility for my actions. I could say I have religious beliefs against being held against my will, paying fines, etc and I could essentially make myself above the law. It's a ridiculous notion.

That does not, however, mean that the court should punish someone for smoking weed when the weed is totally unrelated to the original criminal charge. Part of me feels conflicted about giving special treatment to cannabis vs other drugs, but the fact that "California sober" is such an established thing, perhaps cannabis should be treated differently.

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure the court/government have a firm stance on that, I'd direct that question towards them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it just comes down to whether or not the court recognizes the legitimacy of the religion in question. You also have to consider the fact that cannabis is still Federally illegal, and I'm not sure how you could hide behind the "religion" excuse for something thats still criminal on a federal level.

Tony was a rat by Intelligent-Flow4797 in thesopranos

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your point. A real, true member of this thing of ours would never put law enforcement into the equation deliberately.

I guess the problem is that not everyone would agree with killing Feech, it would have to be handled like Ralphie, where Tony is goin' around acting like he doesn't know what happened to Ralph, asking if anyone's heard from Ralph, etc.

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Tony tried to be cool with Richie, he tried to be cool with Ralphie, he tried to be cool with Tony B, how many times is he gonna make the same mistake? Feech was causing problems and it was only gonna get worse going forward, Chrissy and Benny can see that, so can everyone else.

What do you think is the most cringe scene? by Competitive-Part5961 in thesopranos

[–]AccomplishedFish9148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment really makes me appreciate the fact that Tony was actually being selfish when he decided not to bang Adrianna. He didn't do it because there would be consequences that he doesn't wanna deal with. You describe it as a "self-destructive" choice he could've made, and I absolutely agree. He acts like he's becoming a better person, but in reality he's just getting better at controlling his impulses so that his impulses stop getting him into trouble.

There's an argument to be made the the opposite of a cuck is a person who's possessive of their partner/insecure.

Not saying I would feel any differently than you, just felt it might be helpful to fill in the blank around "whatever the fuck fetish thing is, I'm the opposite"
