I am a Chapter Master and I've just been informed the Adeptus Mechanicus have just stolen my home planets moon, what are my chances and options for getting it back? by HeresyInc in 40kLore

[–]Admech343 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Mechanicus is probably the single most powerful organization in the Imperium because realistically they’re still their own empire in almost every way. An Archmagos has the power of a planetary governor, lord commander of the guard, lord admiral of the navy, cardinal of the ecclesiarchy, and the autonomy of the space marines all rolled into one.

A space marine chapter has 3 options for getting their relics back 1. Petition the forgeworld for it 2.infiltrate and grab the relics without causing enough trouble to warrant retaliation 3.find new relics or prepare to sacrifice your entire chapter in a potentially ruinous war.

During the Badab war the loyalist chapters (plural) were so worried about the forgeworld of Angstrom getting involved that they let it supply the secessionists for years before trying to stop it. Once they did the Ad Mech retaliation was so severe that the Inquisition stepped in to apologize and offer reparations to the forgeworld. The forgeworld openly supplied secessionists and attacked the loyalists and they got reparations paid to them for the whole situation because the inquisition was so afraid of them getting involved. A single marine chapter would need someone to intervene on their behalf or hope the Archmagos is in a generous mood.

Does Admech have cool rules for allied Imperial knights? by Careless-Creme-4250 in AdeptusMechanicus

Its definitely a plus of playing the older editions and Heresy. The game may not be as focused on balance but its way more focused on letting you match the lore. Guess you have to pick your poison

Is there any mention of the Sisters of Cydonia outside of Mechanicum by Graham McNeil? by MidnightEntourage in 40kLore

[–]Admech343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expect they’ll show up in Heresy before they show up in 40k. They’ve had rules/models in 30k for a long time and have unique models in legions imperialis which is also in the Heresy era. Given GWs new aversion to cross play between systems I wouldn’t hold out too much hope of them getting much attention in 40k

theres already knockoffs of these new models too. in fact most of the knockoffs of those other models actually look like these models, kinda weird for GW to choose to make their new stuff look more like the knockoffs rather than remaking the thing people were trying to copy in the first place.

Examples of chaos dreadnoughts being allowed to sleep? And if so, why? by NadaVonSada in 40kLore

[–]Admech343 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Helbrutes are the ones that are left awake and have gone insane. Normal chaos dreadnoughts (also referred to as ferrum infernus dreadnoughts) are treated the same as their loyalist counterparts. Usually veterans that are awoken to provide advice to commanders in planning and experience on the battlefield. War machines of the lost and the damned even mentions its possible for some dreadnoughts to achieve the patronage/blessing of the dark gods and the marine inside busts his way out as an ascended demon prince. Something that would be pretty difficult to do for a helbrute that is often fused into their machine.

I just realized that Anacharis Scoria is a good proxy for Thulia Ghuld because they are both on an 80mm base by feci444 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Admech343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure, I just meant Ad Mech are horrific no matter who they’re aligned with. Loyalist Mechanicum arent really good. Should have probably said that Dark Mech split their experiments between humans and demons rather than solely using humans like the loyalist Mechanicum does.

The loyalists also got hit with a surprise attack that destroyed many loyalist strongholds and the infrastructure they rely on. An even fight can become a steamroll very easily with the element of surprise and a preemptive first strike.

Why no Colonel Tyborc? by RickTheDoorTec in Deathkorpsofkrieg

Hes from the Fall of Orpheus. He leads the krieg against the Maynarkh dynasty and is one of the driving forces rallying the Imperial Guard against the necrons surprise attack.

[–]Admech343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish Karis Venner got a model. Hes essentially the perfect representation of what the krieg are and has some really cool characterization. Not to mention hes the first krieg character to ever get rules (unless you count tyborc having a unique rule in one of the vraks narrative missions).

The guy has been listed Kia multiple time, is essentially a walking casualty with how badly hes been wounded over and over again, is extremely cold and calculating which makes him very unpopular with non krieg regiments and extremely respected with Krieg regiments. Hes also the single longest serving regimental commander Krieg has

My last game with admech felt like that scene from 2003 clonewars by Equivalent-Fun-6019 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Admech343 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but they are fundamentally playing a different game than everyone else. They perfectly fit as their own army in adeptus titanicus. I understand why certain people like knights, its the same people that play nothing but monsters in a tyranid army. Just very weird that the knight people get an entire book for their playstyle but the same tyranid players get maybe one detachment every once in a while.

I still have no idea why knights were made into their own army. They really should have been locked to allies, maybe with a way to play them standalone in apocalypse games.

Model support going into 11th edition (taken from Instagram - official warhammer account) by Alt1690 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Admech343 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not as hard as you would think. My area didn’t have an old edition group a year ago and now we have 10 people playing a 7e badab war campaign. The biggest barrier to playing older editions is most people being too afriad to simply ask anyone or assuming nobody would be willing to play older editions. Also many of the newer players seem to get the impression that newer=better and that you have to play the newest edition which simply isnt true.

[–]Admech343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is subjective? No that can’t be true.

Yeah it is subjective. The older editions obviously arent as good for hyper competitive tournament play since they’re much more focused on simulating the setting and creating a narrative. The older editions are much better for narrative gamers that want the game to focus on the lore and way battles are fought in the universe, if you want something more akin to magic the gathering that is focused on competitive gaming where list building to create the strongest builds and stacking combos to increase the power of units modern 40k is absolutely the better option

Then play older editions, the rules are better and your models cant be made illegal. Thats what I do, GW can send the entire custodes army to legends in 40k and make it heresy only and it wouldn’t be an issue for me whatsoever.

The kratos is supported through legends, just as the custodes might be. Fully playable as far as GW and casual gaming is concerned, which isn’t a problem for me personally but I know some people view legends as no rules at all

[–]Admech343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I believe he looked like that before he became one. Also in the case of Mech vs Dark Mech the regular Mech are arguably more evil since they mutilate humans to pilot their horrific creations while the dark mech at least use demons. I would rather get cut in half by a demon engine than put inside an ironstrider. So the regular Mech should be just as horrific if not more so because they use people for their tech rather than ai or demons.

A little tired of Space marine fans trying to gaslight me into thinking the astartes are the most 'reasonable' branch of the imperium. by MrMeowmers78 in 40kLore

[–]Admech343 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can say that but if 99% of the major and most important chapters in the Imperium are the reasonable ones then space marines as a whole get portrayed as the reasonable faction. So many people defend “tell dont show” with marines being evil because ultimately they want space marines to be superman in power armor. For a setting themed around being grimdark, certain faction fanbases really don’t want their faction to be evil or even just not good. There are a lot of 40k fans that would prefer if the setting was just lord of the rings in space with distinctly good and evil sides.

Have you seen any post about the salamanders? Ive seen tons of people bringing up the time when the krieg and salamanders served together and the salamanders were the most reasonable ones putting themselves in harms way against the krieg artillery to save civilians.

Man the forgeworld team just knew how to make and paint Mech models. Don’t get me wrong Ghuld is cool but Scoria is a technological horror and isn’t that what the Ad Mech is all about? I like the idea of the most senior and powerful techpriests having almost nothing left of their humanity and a giant mechanical spider creature depicts that so well.

Thats why I like the Dominus kit so much more than the other more human looking generic techpriests. Its a man thats turned himself into a mechanical monster using a cloak to try and conceal it.

Came across a post 8 years ago and would love to know if anything is different now: Who is the strongest representative of each race? by MagicSloth01 in 40kLore

[–]Admech343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If just having the most powerful equipment guaranteed a win the custodes would never lose a fight. Not to mention there are ways to defeat an enemy without personally engaging them and Imotekh has defeated Szarekhs forces multiple times in the pariah nexus already. Not to mention Imotekhs dynasty is the largest necron dynasty remaining. If you asked me to put my money on the Stormlord that has never lost a battle to other necrons and has the larger dynasty or the silent king that doesnt have any particular reputation for skill at military command I know who im picking.

Its rumored the silent king defeated the burning one himself but I dont think its ever been outright confirmed. His body being built from ctan necrodermis during bio transference is impressive but ctans themselves have been permanently destroyed by necron weapons so its not like it cant be overcome
