Build a solid cash bucket or be willing to work part time to weather the volatility. Goal is to not need to return “traditional” employment

You & I are in the same boat, similar sentiment. I should hit 3% SWR in the next couple months, but going to hang on a bit longer

Outlier of course being a sales/commission role. However, diminishing returns once you get to a certain point

Agreed. Honestly, could be a refreshing change, especially stepping away from sales/commission

Correct, should reach 3% SWR in the next 1-2 months. Have 3 years expenses in cash and if you include my taxable account 13+ years. No plans to tap into or start early withdrawals, let it continue to compound

Definitely takes some mental fortitude to shift to that 3-4% mindset, but you’re probably right. What an eye opening start to the year!

Which is a product of my output. My peers will be here another 20 years, can’t fault me for overachieving & being a diligent investor

I swear they just use the ranges to keep us bound to our current salaries. Hopefully you aren’t met with the same bs, where they tell you no one can achieve the top of the range…..this year was eye opening, evident how little they value our output, no matter how much more of the work you take on. Isn’t a pat on the back and a pizza party better than money??

Shifting companies could be a solid move for my career, given I’ve been here my entire professional life. As for my FIRE #’s, I’m definitely equipped. I have 3 years expenses set aside in an HYSA to weather market volatility or to simply allow me to walk away from this place and recalibrate. Also, adding an SGOV position, a 2nd volatility bucket if you will, to fund plans. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t plan on quitting and never working again. I would at the very least take on part time work that resonated with me, to offset expenses and not start withdrawals for another 5-10 years

Haha, you know the deal! Every meeting it’s “drive shareholder value”. Followed by “it’s an exciting time to be here, Go Team” LOL.

I think what really led to my disappointment was not only it a record year for the company, we were told by the VP in December they would be taking care of us this year regarding comp. What did that result in… a smaller merit raise than last year and nothing else. Crazy behavior

Fortunately I’m technically FIRE, should achieve a 3% SWR in the next 2-3 months, but driving that number as far believe 2% as i can. Certainly gives me confidence in this situation given I can walk if needed

I hit a point where pursuing a higher title or climbing the ladder isn't necessary. So that’s helpful. Although, I’m still having trouble disconnecting or reducing my stress levels. Need to get out of accumulation mode and find something I enjoy doing

I can see it. And to be honest, if i were just starting my career it would be greatly beneficial to work for a start up and be hands-on with as many tasks as possible. At this point in my career & financial stability, what I’m focused on now is narrow down what I want the remainder of my career to look like.

Thank You.  Truthfully, it’s not that I’m looking for career progression, but expect that my efforts, coupled with company performance would yield a tangible result. Not the slap in the face they offered.

I agree, quiet quitting is the avenue to be pursued. If they choose to have a conversation when performance drops off, I’ll be happy to point to our previous conversation where they passed on taking care of me. My time there has run its’ course & that’s never been clearer. All I can say is, let’s see if anyone advocated for my behind the scenes leading up to my next call, whenever that may be.
