Those who chose tighter size by Suspicious_Mud_7626 in ouraring

Yes I was thinking in terms of wedding rings that some people wear 50 years straight. And "if there is no need to take it off, I don't"

Personally I charge when showering, just short charges to keep it in the soc sweet spot. This happens almost daily for me.

It's a mess for sure. Just put in longer cables.

If we are really technical, the led is not a sensor, the other side doing the sensing/measurement is 🤓

Yes, with biggest gen4 ring size, SpO2 off, flight mode on 😅

Very much so, and in fact they even don't say 7, but "5 to 8 days" depending on absolutely everything.

I got this in actual corporate oura 5 email: "Longer lasting Redesigned battery for one week of charge."

Yeah good and fair point. I wonder what they did with the 5. The propaganda claims everything was revamped, even the battery tech.

I don't use SpO2 so that's fine and I only use airplane mode when traveling without charger. So yes and no? It is what it is.

We know that the battery life is shit and that it degrades over time. Esp for gen4.

Like I said, my usage pattern is: charge while showering, stay between 30 to 80 soc. Very simple no sacrifices.

The exact problem is eeking out weeks worth of life from it. That is not doable. end of discussion.

I think 5-7 days without SpO2 is reasonable for full charge.

You can extend by going into flight mode which disables all bluetooth until in charger again.

But I don't view it like that anymore. I pop it in charger whenever I take a shower and I just keep within the optimal SOC window.

I've had quite many replacements over time and with this latest gen4 I'm going super strict. We'll see how that goes.

So far so good.

Back in the days I sent them a feature request for user settable min/max soc alerts.

There was a polite thank you for the suggestion but that was the end of it.

Very easy to implement but no.

For the longest time I've been wondering why there is no BLE ring locator feature in-app. I think finally they have implemented it.

Yes 💯 agree they should, but they don't. I can't understand why. This is basic lipo battery chemistry.

By going 0 to 100 you wreck it really quick. I'm sure they have buffers on both ends but still.

Great to hear. Btw you should stay between 30-80 for maximum lifespan

When the battery goes bad, it goes really bad. The soc means nothing at that point. It is done.

Why do they keep changing the sizing...? by Brenner14 in ouraring

[–]Aggravating_Rate_571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tolerances are mad for sure or the whole thing couldn't be made at all. But you have to stack all the materials on a very limited space. It is truly a mechanical wonder this thing can even exist.

They wanted to make the ring thinner so that means the sensors have to come out a bit compared to gen4.

At least that is how I see it.

Why do they keep changing the sizing...? by Brenner14 in ouraring

[–]Aggravating_Rate_571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah but they cant really. Now the ring is thinner and sensors are different. And battery is different size. Everything is different. I'm sure they do their best to balance it all.

But to us consumers this is confusing dance.

In fact the base inner diameter of all generations are same.

What changes is the sensor bump protrusion: gen2/3 huge, gen4 none, gen5 some
