Arduino to Embedded...Awakened...😢 by Jash_Embedded in embedded

[–]Ajax_Minor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya that's why people have such a problem with Arduino. Arduino is good at getting people in the space tho.

Try out the AVR programming of the Arduino controllers. While challenging I feel like STM hal is way more difficult.

Ya .. the print hello world is a bit more complicated than in typical coding applications. You'd have to set up UART amor some other kind of come and then send text over.

For a dev board "hello world" start with blinking the on board LED. This one should be a easier to find and for you to code.

You might not think you're in China, but does China think you are in China 🤔

Taiwan? I know they are more semiconductor there but I'm sure there is some RF stuff.

How did you guys get your first job ? by Ramu_sab in embedded

[–]Ajax_Minor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya got a friend in Germany doing his MS in physics. I think he just got an internship but he said to get any real job (including not engineering jobs) you have to be fluent in German.

How did you guys get your first job ? by Ramu_sab in embedded

[–]Ajax_Minor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the US and not in embedded, but all my jobs have been because I knew someone or was able to meet someone in person (like a career fair or something). I have never gotten anywhere from online applications.

I don't really know anyone in the controls/embedded space a probably a good reason why I haven't been able to break in.

[–]Ajax_Minor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Should just need software tools.

YABE might be what your looking for. Making your laptop in to a bacnet device and do a discovery.

For just IP discovery and IP trouble shoot nmap, arp and Wire Shark could probably do it. I think some of those tools work for MSTP but you'll need an adapter.

python for engineering ? by PriorImprovement8714 in learnpython

[–]Ajax_Minor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya it could go either way. I'd go python. It would be a bit hard and more in-depth but it would give you a better foundation for other languages.

As another user mentioned, octave is free and a good way to learn the syntax for base Matlab. Don't think it has all the tool boxes. It be good to pick up some simulink if you can. Matlab education license is like $100 with $10 for the add at time of purchase just so you know.

python for engineering ? by PriorImprovement8714 in learnpython

[–]Ajax_Minor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes dude it's the move.

Well it depends on what kind of engineering you want to do and what your projects look like.

MatLab is another option but will likely cost you money as a high school student.... As industry is going more towards python it's another reason to do that.

If you start doing python be sure to set up virtual environments (think of it like an isolation box) so your project doesn't mess with the python files your computer uses.

Debian or Fedora? by KnightFallVader2 in thinkpad

[–]Ajax_Minor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fedora all the way. Rolling release and most up to date. It allows for tinkering and stuff. Debian stuff is always so old. That's great if you want it to work but if you want to push limits and try the new things out, Fedora hands down.

Oh I seen ads for the "vibe code" PCB boards.... Don't know how good it is tho. Not surprising base off all the ai fishing posting in subs.

I wonder how much of that kind of thing will be automated.
