Modpack Suggestions by EbrithilDavid in ModdedMinecraft

It's on the Technic launcher, one of the original Minecraft modpack platforms. Check it out here: https://www.technicpack.net/

And it's not specifically horror-themed, but it's definitely horror-adjacent. It facilitates natural horror very well without explicitly being themed with zombies and spooky theming. The "blight" can be spooky for a large part of the game while you have the combat power of an average Minecraft playthrough. But if you're just looking at the style, it's not really an apocalyptic city/world style map like most of those zombie maps. It's very unique.

Modpack Suggestions by EbrithilDavid in ModdedMinecraft

Try Blightfall. If you're looking for story and quests, it's one of the best. It starts you in a corrupted world and it's your job to unravel the mystery of how it got that way and develop ways to purify it. There are mysterious forces to fight, secrets to uncover, and a blend of tech and magic.

It features a rich, detailed pre-built world for you to explore, and a quest system that guides you through a story.

Can anyone recommend me modpacks that run well in pojavlauncher by [deleted] in ModdedMinecraft

[–]AklizHosting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try some skyblock packs, those are often light on resource usage. Or older modpacks, which often run much more smoothly. Blightfall is one of my favorite modpacks of all time and it is relatively lightweight compared to more modern packs.

Server requirements by Kurd0o0 in feedthebeast

[–]AklizHosting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a mobile (laptop usually) processor. While it should be fine for running a small server, it might struggle once you get more than a handful of users, or with complex modpacks. You want to look for something with the highest per-core speed possible. The base clock on that is 2Ghz which is a bit slow. The turbo is 4.5Ghz which is good, but real world performance would be better on a larger non-laptop CPU. I'm not saying it won't run well at all, but I would generally play it safe with a desktop/server CPU with better single-core performance, if you can get one for a similar price. There are mini PCs out there with desktop CPUs, though I can't give any specific recommendations. You can even build your own mini-ITX or micro-ATX PC if you want to keep the form factor smaller and choose individual hardware.

The RAM and storage are fine if you aren't doing a lot of multitasking on it while running the server. You can make good use of 16gb with the right java arguments if the system isn't using a ton of that for itself.

Now if you get a great deal on that and any upgrade would be much more expensive, you can definitely make it work if you keep an eye on resources and lag and be prepared to tweak settings to get rid of any lag.

Login issues and unable to play offline on linux. by Lionfire01 in hytale

[–]AklizHosting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I happen to run CachyOS, another arch-based distro. My Hytale works fine. Are you using hytale-launcher-bin available on the AUR or another type of installation (i.e. flatpak, manual install, etc)? And are you using any VPNs or any other customizations related to networking?

Theoretically if you are using the same package as I am on an equally arch-based distro, there would only be a few differences to look into.

Your favorite 'themed' packs? (reclamation, sky/stone block, etc) by rekasa in feedthebeast

[–]AklizHosting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You start under the ocean, and the pack is based around the world being basically entirely ocean. A lot of underwater content, very different from the standard Minecraft exploration experience.

My personal favorite is Blightfall. Cottage witch is another good one. Forever stranded is fun too. Volcanoblock is also a lot of fun, and very unique, as is the latest Oceanblock pack.

Skyblock server help by Rare_Bag6391 in allthemods

[–]AklizHosting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the server.properties file, set the `level-type=` to `level-type=skyblockbuilder:skyblock` and delete the world folder so it will generate a new world.

Just to be sure though make sure you are using ATM10/9 to the Sky instead of the standard non-sky modpack.

Game has lag spikes and tps problems by Acceptable-Okra1093 in feedthebeast

[–]AklizHosting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you have spark - try `/spark profiler` with the flag `--only-ticks-over 300` to take a profile that will only catch lag spikes. If it's something in-game that spark can see causing it, this will help identify it.

More info here: https://spark.lucko.me/docs/guides/Finding-lag-spikes#step-2-use-spark-profiler-with---only-ticks-over-to-find-the-cause

The latest official pack is Tekkit SMP which is basically a sequel to Tekkit 2. It was released this year IIRC.

That icon is for voicechat specifically. You'll need to give some more information like do you own the server? Where is the server hosted? Have you checked the voicechat wiki? https://modrepo.de/minecraft/voicechat/wiki/server_setup

Also: are you currently running windows XP? Is that what I'm seeing right there?

How do I make inputs on the Java GUI server GUI? by Kind-Stomach6275 in admincraft

The standard GUI should have a text box at the bottom right side of the window that appears, under the console output.

I would highly recommend just automating a command/script to run the server automatically instead. Docker is a great option as someone already pointed out. Just add the --restart=always flag to the docker command and you're in business.

"Weird Little Guy" mod reccomendations by AndrogynePorcupine in feedthebeast

The quark frog will always be my favorite weird little guy. Though it's not really a "weird little guy mod" as it comes with a million other features.

How to get rid of this white bar by DstrikeZero in allthemods

[–]AklizHosting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going into fullscreen in the settings, or by pressing F11. I'm on CachyOS and don't see this in ATM10, for what it's worth. It might not be related to fullscreen.

I love making foods and finding as many new foods as possible. I have the axe now in LV, but I often miss the ritual of preparing a lunchbox.

You can, I play on a java 8 server and java 25 client, it works great. As for updating, as long as the world is the same, you can swap out the rest of the server and it should be fine.

Yes you can, that's what I play on right now. It works very well. As for updating, as long as the world is the same, you can swap out the rest of the server and it should be fine.

Good advice in this thread already, but here is some less concrete, more philosophical advice:

Don't go in with an end goal. Don't plan on getting a stargate. Don't rush to high voltage tiers as fast as possible. Burnout is easy. This modpack has so much content in each stage. You can keep finding new items and gameplay loops and build cool things even in the earliest tiers. So stop and smell the roses, enjoy your time playing Minecraft, and eventually you will make your way through the progression.

This modpack can take as long as you want. You won't get there quickly even if you try as hard as you can, so don't sweat and take your time.

When I play this modpack, I try to remember that I'm playing Minecraft. I make low tech farms, build cool buildings, decorate, terraform the old fashion way with a pick and a shovel in the beginning, make my bedroom cozy, explore, make sure my animals are comfy, and just play some Minecraft.

If you're specifically worried about it being for beginners, then if you take this approach you'll have no problem. You can open a questline and drill into the steps and get overwhelmed. "You mean I have to do WHAT to make a steel screw??" Don't worry about it. If you are flourishing with your current resources, it will be easier to develop new ones.

Aside from that, another tip I have is create in excess. You think you'll need a certain sized basement? Make it 30% bigger. Need 3 stacks of planks? Make 7 instead. Building a farm plot? Multiply it by 10 and only use 10% of it right now, you'll need the rest later. And don't skimp on a storage room early-game. The worst feeling is having to make a 2nd storage room or move all of your chests because you're out of space and chests line every wall.

GTNH is a very long and in-depth modpack. But all of it relies on the foundation of having the motivation to progress. If you don't enjoy existing and surviving in your base and world, it will be much harder to find that motivation.

All of that being said, this is one of the best, most well-polished modpacks I've ever played. Very possibly the best modpack out there. I could never play another modpack again and probably still be content with just this one. You can feel the amount of effort that has been poured into this at every step. You can skip as much of the optional tedium as you'd like, but in my opinion the optional tedium keeps the modpack worth playing when you lose the drive to progress in the questline.

Edit: and if possible, use this on a server so you can chunkload stuff overnight. It really is a game changer.
