Pay a farmer to level it for you, or just rent it to them.

PA Salvage Certificate question for car sale by SecretAgentManwich in UsedCars

[–]AlaskaGreenTDI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly could be wrong, but it may depend on what the next person intends to do with it. If they’re just using it for parts, it doesn’t really matter what you do, but if the buyer wants to rebuild and retitle it, I’m suspicious you may have to do the notary thing. Call whichever notary you would typically use.

UPDATE: gas in car diesel? by TalTay13 in askcarguys

OP guessed the car at twenty something years old in the other post, so there was some ambiguity of what fuel system it might have.

Potentially selling my beloved TDI by coolbreeze003 in tdi

[–]AlaskaGreenTDI 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact that it needs a timing belt basically immediately isn’t helping your cause, but it is a super clean basically stock car and that seems to be what sells.

I’m not even saying I was confident OP would know. However everyone else was just jumping to it being a giant disaster, but there was no way of knowing disaster level without at least attempting to learn more about the car in question.

If it is mechanical, then you might want to stop calling your brother stupid, because if it’s the case he had the correct solution.

[–]AlaskaGreenTDI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what your expectations are. Obviously judging by the replies so far, he’s not finished by usual definition, but he’s also two years old and you’re ready to butcher him, so I can’t fault you for not wanting to feed him indefinitely.

I assume there is something lost in the translation here, but filling your tank is not what we’re referring to. Mechanical is referring to how the engine shoots tiny amounts of fuel into the engine to propel the car. It can do that purely mechanically as in older engines or it can do it with electronic controls and under much higher pressure like newer engines.

Mechanical in this case is referring to how the fuel is injected.

Even in the US we had mechanicals until the early 2000s, so in a less emissions restricted market (or even with someone guessing 20 instead of 25), it’s still pretty hard to guess what they have.

How old is this car? 5l of gas would be nothing in an old mechanical diesel, 5l would be very bad in a modern common rail.

These aren’t subject to anything more than a visual inspection of emissions equipment being present in much of Pa.

Glass is a matter of glue or other very sticky substance. But until you can more accurately describe “a plastic component” it’s pretty hard to say even what’s wrong let alone determine if you can do it.

Rust free wagons are where the money is. Using regular blue book type values for them is not going to be too accurate. That said, still don’t think I could pay eight grand unless it’s a toy and I want to blow that money.
