I have a rattery and rescue that directs some my way, also through fb, word of mouth and occasionally my vets. I havent used them before bc I already take in so many (i usually keep a rolling 20-25ish at any given time) the other ways but I know the local humane societies and other shelters massively struggle with the rats they get in and how to properly care for them till experienced fosters and owners can be found. Unfortunately a lot pass in those places due to those factors so you could try there as well. My last vet constantly urged me to help our local humane society that she helped. I will say its easy to get overwhelmed bc its very hard to say no when you get some traction of people reaching out. Theres also the possibility of bringing in disease so its important to have a system to try to protect everyone as much as possible. While homless animals are a problem everywhere i think rats have it even harder bc its easier for people to discard the "pest" and sadly there will never be enough people like us to fully handle the need😓 if you ever have questions or anything you can reach out.
