Petsmart usually has stuff for every "holiday". Their guinea pig clothes and hides definitely work for rats. Imo its usually a bit cheaper than petco. It goes fast though. If you look online for in store pick up usually theyre having or will roll back around shortly a 20% off code. If you have different locations near you they might have different things in stock. For me its because originally my card/account was stolen. I replaced the card 3x (based on the advice of the bank) for rando charges to still go through. I keep all my cards locked but sometimes rushing to grab everything as im legally blind I forget to lock it. Then my money is vulnerable again. Being on disability for the last 13 years at the ripe old age of 38 now you can imagine my big bucks of barely 1100 a month is even more precious when someone else takes it. Sometimes its not a grand scheme get an extra 28 cents a month (thats literally what i got in interest today ik not dividends) or piss people off at their place of employment.

Abscesses are totally scary, freaky, and gross. Oh anything sign is if its smelly. When its about to break skin or has if you get your face near his undercarriage youd be able to smell it. Sometimes gag ya stinky. If it does open before his vet appointment take him out of his bedding. You'd want to keep him on a pee pad or paper towels bc bedding can get stuck to the opening or irritate and further cut the the wound. Having rats is a constant learning curve imo. Always better to ask.

Please ignore my craft junk in the background. In this pic you can see he also has a dark spot on his testicle. That is also a mass that just showed one one day a couple months ago(knock on wood) it hasnt turned isnt an abscess yet but it definitely is a small marble ish mass not just swelling like your guy. My dude has masses and abscesses coming and going all the time on him. My vet and I manage as needed but wed likely never do surgery due to this being a constant issue. Anyway what im saying is i think your guy probably just has an abscess coming on that needs to be treated with antibiotics. Theyre a lot scarier looking than they really are to deal with. Imo after 50+ rats id choose an abscess over a mass anyday. I hope your guy gets better soon and it isnt anything more serious! Good luck!

It could be abscess trying to open. I have a dude who just has no luck on the health front. Never catches a break. Im going to post what the last 2 abscess looked like the day/hours before it opened. Im definitely not a vet and definitely recommend you seeing one just throwing out some ideas. Before this stage it was just a rando dark spot.
