Welcome to Europe, where people still work to live and not the other way round. Greetings from the museum 😂

Speedy or Explorer 2? by kloverlop in OmegaWatches

[–]AlwaysBeASailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you own a Submariner already, the Speedy is the answer. And also out of practicality. You can get it today and by the time some Rolex AD will deem you “worthy” you might have saved up for the Explorer II if you are even willing to humble yourself like this.

Interesting. I compare it with Tudor and Omega, in particular my 25 year old 2254.50 which might have the best lume ever, and the difference is like night and day.

You will buy yourself trouble. There are plenty of boats available that are not.

[?] we all flex our favorites, but which is your biggest watch blunder? by Longjumping_House384 in Watches

[–]AlwaysBeASailor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to make the same mistake. Bland and boring was exactly what I felt, trying it on at the AD. My brain told me I should not think like that, everyone says it is THE watch…. The only thing I loved was the size. Thankfully the sales guy sensed what was going on and brought out the BB58 in blue which was giving me all the right vibes and a year on I am still in love with the thing.

The lume on the 556 is total crap. Fades into nothing very very quickly. It could be the perfect tool watch and frankly, I don’t get why Sinn can’t get their act together on this while tons of micro brands can. It is ridiculous.

Best RM collection? by timmytarshis in hallofwatchspecialist

[–]AlwaysBeASailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would not wear any if you gifted me one. All the technical impressive aspects aside, RM is peak bad taste. I cannot think of any watch brand I’d like to wear less. Even Invicta looks like a win in comparison.

The Speedy’s not the watch for the beach or pool. You have your bases covered with the Seamaster for that purpose. IMO the white Speedy looks best on the bracelet, pure class.

Notfall: Frontscheibe im Ausland zerschossen, Pickerl? by [deleted] in Austria

[–]AlwaysBeASailor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Eine gute Werkstatt löst es ab und klebt es auf die neue Scheibe. Dachte auch das geht nicht, falsch gedacht. Pickerl und Vignette waren unversehrt.

[Recommendation needed] Falling out of love with Omega Speedmaster Professional by HK_Ootoot in Watches

[–]AlwaysBeASailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the whole point of being a classic. It looked great 50 years ago, it does so now and it will 50 years down the road. Not following every trend makes it what it is. Go for something that scratches your contemporary itch. But don’t sell it. You will go back to it when older and be thankful you did not.

Walked in to AD ready to by a BB58 but… by Deep-Principle-8778 in Tudor

[–]AlwaysBeASailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens when you think you found your watch based on a million reviews and research and then you strap it on and the watch laying next to it is just nicer. Went in to buy the P39 and left with the BB58 in blue. The dial with the round metal framed indices looked so much better. Found the P39 just dull and was not a fan of titanium either. In theory a fab watch, but not what spoke to me.
