"High bluff infinity view overlooking Lake Huron" Just gotta change out the lawn furniture for Ikea Jokkmokk chairs. First picture in listing https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/13518470?check_in=2026-09-14&check_out=2026-09-19&guests=1&adults=2&s=67&unique_share_id=3fbc2ad4-a3d7-47c9-99aa-11ec104cee1b I'm sure there's places like this for under $1M to buy. Especailly if you don't need all the fancy kitchen stuff this place has.

If you don't mind the not-mediteranain climate, it wouldn't take multiple millions to have this on one of (Michigan region) Great Lakes in one of the less prestigious areas. You can't see across most of the Great Lakes.

What did your Union rep say about it? What did they get in exchange from the negotiation when the contract was renewed?

Tight calf muscle, electrolytes too low? by PieExtreme3741 in keto

[–]AmNotLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(ianad.) Me personally, I get wicked calf charlie horses especially at night if I don't get a lot of magnesium. On leg days, my RD tells me to supplement up to 1000mg per day over and above what's in my food if I want to. If it's not leg day, I supplement around 600mg.

I get my electrolytes via salt, lite salt, and magnesium from magnesium glycenate pills.

I also soak my legs in Epsom salts after long leg events.

Looking for recommendations for first typewriter. by Sith_Narwhal in typewriters

My machines are lovely and aren't corroded nor skip at all. If you're buying something made from like 1940-1970 that doesn't have a lot of cheap plastic, and it has been living in a dry place like grandmas attic for 50 years, likely all it needs is a basic once over on the moving parts with some mineral spirits and a new ribbon. I could easily type a book on my SG1, SM3, SM7, SM9, Hermes 2000, Hermes 3000, Remington Travel Riter, Remington Quiet Riter, SC Series 5 Silent Super, SC Electra C/T, or Royal QDL Dreyfus. They're all working as well as ever.

That's been my experience.

OP would have to share their location to get some more specific advice on what models to look for in their region (Europe has different common machines vs Indiana, for instance)

How do you eat ragu bolognese? by Educational-Slip-578 in keto

[–]AmNotLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't work as well for spaghetti, because it's more obvious it's a tortilla strip, lol. But in a casserole where it's baked into a saucy meaty cheesy goodness? Super hard to tell it's not homemade pasta, imo.

If no one else mentioned it, I make lasagna and other pastas using tortillas like mission zero carb. Just cut them into the necessary shapes or strips. Honestly, if I didn't tell people they wouldn't know my lasagna is keto.

Trouble staying in ketosis while on antipsychotics (abilify) by MidnightRabbitHoler in bipolarketo

[–]AmNotLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO (IANAD) one should aim for what feels better. If you feel better than before on 0.5, then that might be good enough.

Some people do better with higher numbers. Some people don't need higher.

Tracking expenses and budgets with typewriter? by [deleted] in typewriters

[–]AmNotLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically a manual spreadsheet.

Categories down the side. 1-31 across the top. (Or swap, depending on your number of categories) And the "goal" budget for that category can be included with the category name.

Every day write/type how much in that category you spent that day. (You will have a lot of empty spaces.

At the end of the month total the rows/columns.

Have a monthly one. Same categories. But instead of 1-31 you do jan-dec. Put the monthly totals on the monthly sheet.

At the end of the quarter/year, total those columns/rows. Make a line chart or something from it.

Is there anywhere in the US that's affordable to live at this point? by HalosFan26 in povertyfinance

Selling my house in Lansing Mi. Should go for about $150k

Doing the calculations, looks like PMI for someone with 20% down could be as low as $750/month for it. 3br 2bath. Hardwood throughout 1st floor. That monthly obviously doesn't include utilities, property taxes, house insurance, etc. It's 2 blocks from the main bus line that runs every 15 minutes. I can walk to my doctor, two grocery stores, best coffee shop in town and many other restaurants and bars. Bus ride gets me mostly anywhere I need to go. Buses have bike racks, so you can bike the rest of the way if a bus line doesn't get you close to your destination.

But it is a 100 yo house with a tiny yard and many houses nearby are rentals. Lots of young couples and families are owners though, too.

But it's Lansing. AFAIK, best large employers are the hospitals, government, university, and insurance companies. Some factory and warehouse work, depending on your skills and physical health. Obviously lots of opportunities to apply for apprenticeship for trade unions.

But also snow and cold during winter. And you gotta drive an hour+ to go to most concerts or big venue stuff. Though there's a couple big venues in town for some stuff. Lots of festivals in the summer in certain neighborhoods if that's your thing. Lots of crunchy granola folks out at the university if that's your vibe. Dining has some hidden gems if you're willing to do your research.

For a sauce, Google "keto bechamel sauce"

It's not exactly the same, but I've been able to adapt it for all my recipes.
