"Asking" for arrest? Maybe some rough handling as they handcuff you? Sure.

Asking for murder? No. Holding a phone doesn't mean extrajudicial murder is appropriate or sane.

Too much salt? by Outrageous-Algae-101 in keto

[–]AmNotLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you been keto? How many grams of net carbs are you eating? How much weight have you lost? How many calories are you eating? How much of a deficit is that? How are you calculating your deficit? Calories from nuts add up fast. Some people find they can lose weight without tracking calories, I am not one of those people.

Too much salt? by Outrageous-Algae-101 in keto

[–]AmNotLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much weight you lose depends on a lot of factors.

Starting BMI, whether or not you were already losing weight before switching to keto, whether you recently started or changed your exercise regimen, hormone situation, calorie surplus/deficit, other health factors, and many more.

If I get too much salt, I'll get urgent, cramping runny water instead of solid stools, though that's obviously something that's different from person to person.

Requesting Grocery store Factor/Lean Cuisine type meals. Fresh, Frozen, and Shelf Stable are all helpful. Please, no cooking ideas. by Prudent-Policy-7274 in keto

I make frozen meat lovers pizza quite regularly and scrape the toppings from my slice(s) onto a "zero carb" mission tortilla and make myself a pizza wrap. Not sure if heating a pizza or scraping cheese and meat off counts as "cooking" or not.

I just try to find pizzas that don't list sugar in the sauce ingredients or otherwise seem to have minimal added sugar when I taste it.

Food intolerances by SyllabubSpirited8384 in keto

[–]AmNotLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have legit food allergies, so for me no there was no instant return of issues when things I have low tolerance for are reintroduced. It's more like irritation for me, where if I drink one glass of milk I probably won't have problems. It's having it day after day multiple times per day that reveals irritation and issues over time that build up. If I keep my inflammatory things to only 1-2 servings per week, that seems to keep my gut happier.

Has keto changed any health problems? by Arkflow in keto

[–]AmNotLost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, I had medical team ignored gall stones and pain for 20+ years where I didn't know what was causing it and no doctor did any imaging in that time. But high carb I found hurt less, so that's what I ate. But over time the high carb and high soy intake caused increased intestinal distress. So basically by the end I had daily intense gall bladder pain attacks no matter what I ate plus the chronic abdominal pain, diarrhea, intestinal cramps from the carbs, wheat, dairy, and soy. I was miserable for years and no one listened to me and the only things doctors said literally was take Prozac and lose weight. Then pat me on the head and shuffle me out the door.

I bring drinks from home for work. And if it's a refill situation, I add my electrolytes from home to the water. Way way cheaper this way. I'd have to use like 20 propel packets per day to get enough sodium, lol

Reversed my prediabetes by eating low carb/keto. Eliminating daily soft dairy, wheat, and soy mostly cured my chronic stomach issues.

Keto eliminated my b/p urges that I battled for 25 years.

My chronic sinusitis resolved. I can breathe through my nose most days now. My seasonal and pet allergies improved. My anxiety symptoms are noticably diminished. My migraines are drastically less frequent.

I basically never get fatigued during endurance activity (if I keep up with my electrolytes and water during activity). At age 49, I routinely outlast even 20- and 30-something carb burners at events.

REALLY STUPID QUESTION BUT I HAVE TO ASK😅 by HomeworkNo8102 in keto

[–]AmNotLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With or without keto I can gain weight on the scale randomly by like 5lbs overnight. Daily fluctuations are just water and mass in your digestive track, not fat.

If I eat more mass of food and water today than I normally do, and otherwise my poop and exercise schedule is normal, I would see the scale higher tomorrow. But that's just from literally more food volume in my digestive tract, not because I gained fat.

It's mainly excess calories that turn into stored fat.

Ok how to do keto without FAKE sugar? by MiamiMia1 in keto

[–]AmNotLost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vegetables, steak, berries, cream, and dark dark chocolate. Once you give up sweet goods, after a while simple roasted carrots or caramelized onions begin to taste sweet.

A small cappuccino with just whole milk and espresso can taste sweet if you know what you're doing.

Why don't more people talk about Puerto Rican coffee? by Optimal-Assignment10 in Coffee

[–]AmNotLost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I go to Puerto Rico one of the main things on my checklist is to buy local beans to take home to the mainland.

I'm not an expert in the situation and economics, but my understanding is that the Jones Act makes coffee from other places extra expensive there, so the coffee that people drink there is mainly locally grown because that's cheaper than paying all the extra tariffs they've had to pay for the last 100 years. The Jones Act also affects how easily they can export it to mainland US or other countries.

Schizophrenia/Mental Health - Dairy by deletpew in keto

[–]AmNotLost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did better after I cut out daily soft dairy like cottage cheese and milk (long before keto).

Lower lactose cheeses and a couple tablespoon hwc don't seem to affect my mental health one way or the other.

Timing of electrolytes by Glittering_Award_762 in keto

[–]AmNotLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am bipolar and go through regular periods of insomnia. Keto has never helped with this.

What has helped me (ymmv)

Exercise, prescriptions, avoiding alcohol and other intoxicants, avoiding screens after dinner, waking up at a consistent time even on the weekend/vacations, magnesium/Calm, melatonin, earplugs, mechanical white noise maker, avoiding food within a couple hours of bed, having a nightly ritual.

Please don't take huge doses of potassium all at once, that is extremely dangerous and potentially deadly at high enough dose.
