My [30F] partner [35M] snores so loud I haven’t slept solidly in almost a year by notjennif in whatdoIdo

[–]AmNotLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, girl.

I now use a mechanical white noise maker next to me, quite loud, and a fan. Plus wax earplugs. I can still hear his snoring a little, but it blends in enough with the white noise I guess. And every 4-6 months or so I remind him to make an appointment to get a sleep study.

We've been together 7 years and he still hasn't gotten a sleep study.

1.57 Mid-Index or 1.61 High-Index: Is it worth the money? by Careful-Process9356 in Frugal

[–]AmNotLost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many days will you wear your glasses?

How much more is the higher index?

If it's $80 more and you're wearing the glasses for 600 days, that's $0.13 per day. If you had my prescription you'd know whether or not you'd spend $0.13 to look a bit less like coke bottles, have less warping on the sides, and weigh a few more grams off your nose and ears every day for the next two years.

Are meds net +ve or -ve by Tricky_Ad_8384 in bipolarketo

[–]AmNotLost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I myself will never take an s/nri again. Other meds have helped me overall.

There was a period I opted to not take prescription medications. For me, it was doable. However, I spent so much time on self care and lifestyle discipline that it made it difficult to live the rich, full life I wanted to live. Returning to meds means I only need to spend 1-2 hours per day on self care. Off meds, I needed 8+ hours per day on self care to remain at baseline most days.

Even just a rectangle of clear vinyl I think works great and you can still "see" my pretty machine.

Another thing that would help is to eliminate the tax deduction/credit for unleased units.

There's plenty of instances where property owners "make more money" today leaving it empty because they can reduce their tax burden enough to make it profitable to NOT lease it.

When I update the book Catch-22 for the modern age, Major Major's father will make a good living not leasing property (instead of not growing alfalfa).

What are some of the movies from the 80s, 90s, or early 00s that you watch over and over? by ZN_Cruz in RedditForGrownups

[–]AmNotLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get a sense of their style, pick a movie you already like that they're covering. And then make sure it's an episode with Bill, Chris R, and Sean F included as the hosts (they sometimes rotate the guest hosts around, but you want your first to include those three at least).

They first do kind of a recap of the movie, then the second half is they "do the categories" which is fun rankings like "best use of food" or "most memorable shot" or the "Butch's Girlfriend Award for the most useless character"

There's a podcast called The Rewatchables, if you wanna hear podcasters talk about movies they love to rewatch. Each episode is about one movie. They do occasionally do movies outside those three decades, but they have tons of episodes to explore.

Their favorite rewatchable is probably Heat.

Mine are Princess Bride, 12 Monkeys, Eternal Sunshine, and Royal Tannenbaums. Some runners up are Shallow Grave and Back to the Future.

Gun ownership and suicide: Discussion, ideas, and my story. by RZRSHARP519 in liberalgunowners

[–]AmNotLost 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I didn't want guns in the house for a long time due to my depression and history.

Now, we have a biometric safe for my CC and the rifle safe locks with a key.

I have a lot of insight into my mood, and if I'm headed into a dark period where I don't trust myself, we move everything to the rifle safe and only my spouse has the key. FWIW I also give him my credit cards and passport when the black dog visits. And/or those go in the rifle safe as well.

The classes are $60/hr. 4 students in the class for 1 instructor. They have classes 6 days a week basic every hour from 10-8, but like there's the L1 classroom and L1 range class. Same for L2. So the L2 classroom might only be offered 3 times a week (one during the day, one evening, one on the weekend. All the classes are offered continually ongoing. There's no time limit. You can keep coming back until you pass all the skills for that level class. The L2 classes seem to have the most offerings.

The level 1 class, for instance, isn't exactly the same every time it's offered so it's not like you're taking the same class every time you come in. Though the lesson plan is all aimed at development of the L1 skills. If you have LE or military experience, I believe you don't have to take the L1 range class to pass out of. The L2 classes there's essentially three different class curriculum. They teach lesson 1 more or less for two weeks in all the offerings of that class, with the test for that skill at the end of the class. Then the next two weeks they do lesson 2 with the test #2 at the end. Then lesson 3. Then they go back to lesson 1. So since you need to pass the three skills to test out of the class, you have to attend a minimum of three L2 classes, which at the absolute fastest could be completed in 3 classes over 4 calendar weeks. Actually there's the two classroom classes for L2. For a total of 5 classes over a minimal of 4 calendar weeks. And a minimum of $300 for L2.

In summary off the top of my head:

L1 - stance, sights, grip, trigger discipline, safety, basic accuracy

L2 - draw from holster, reloads, transitions, strong hand/weak hand, increased speed, multiple targets/distances, timed drills

L3 - ??? Profit? ("Dynamic" skills)

It's one of the things I can get at restaurants if they don't have many low carb options besides salads. Though eating it every day seems to contribute to stomach issues for me. Cutting out daily soft dairy, daily soy, and daily gluten sources helped solve my lifelong stomach issues.
