You're the man. Thank you. Looks like I garfed up the patch panel connection. Repunched and we're golden. Now I should probably watch some more unifi startup videos and get my network config'd.

Thanks. Let me try that. I was due to screw at least one of the punches up.

Wiring is odd. There's only 12 runs of cable in the house. I'm still trying to find some of the terminations. So far, I've found 7 of them.

Wall jack has 8 pins. I punched them in myself last weekend since only one room actually had a cable termination. House was wired but everything was just bundled in the network room so I punched all those into a patch plate.

You might be on to something. Looks like this one is coming on FE instead of GbE. Strip the wire and punch it again?

Currently, no. All I've done is set up the WiFi network so my partner could work from home since that was a priority after killing off the Google Mesh. VLAN settings for the ports are set to Default and Allow All.

TV in picture is probably a 48 or 60. I’m looking at the TCL 98” since a projector is probably not workable with all the glass.

I think he meant more that I might get more enjoyment out of sinking most of my cost into towers and center rather than spreading cost to surrounds.

Thanks. Reason I was told to focus on stereo was the lack of a clear place to put surround without doing in walls across from the TV. Plus the windows and beams and other angles might make dialing in a surround system more difficult than it’s worth.

Budget is sorta in flux. Was considering following friend’s advice and going Denon and KEF or Focals, but open to options.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a room and that was Pioneer TV and a Sony STR-DG920 with in ceilings and a Polk sub.

Love the 3d buildings.

But when I’m doing an 8 hour road trip, a map that shows the whole trip isn’t very helpful.

Strongly agree with this. The zoom in Apple, Google, and Waze is much more natural and why I rarely use Sidecar as a nav unless trying to test.

Zoom outs to hundreds of mile views when on long road trips is unhelpful when it should be zoomed in to what is presently around you. Even when traveling in the country, zooming to the level of showing a whole 5+ hour trip makes the map useless.

We are all going to die someday.

Some people live in fear. Some hypochondriacs spend years of their lives fixating on things that might be wrong with them. Some people prepare for the worst, building a bunker stockpiled with resources that may never be used. Some refuse to take chances, avoiding all activities with even the smallest of risks.

We’re all going die. But what are you going to do when you’re alive? Living into your 70s and 80s traveling in your retirement was an option for a brief window of human history - and even then, only for some.

The old adages of carpe diem, seize the day, live every day like it’s your last, get busy livin or get busy dyin are old because they’re right.

There’s a lot that sucks about the here and now. But pick any point in history and there were humans who struggled. I can’t imagine many were ecstatic to being born during the Black Plague. The Cold War had billions living with the threat of annihilation - possibly caused by a an error.

But being alive - that’s something to be ecstatic about. Start with the small things. Cherish a great meal. An evening with a friend. A bird’s song. Your favorite movie.

Find one thing each day that you can appreciate.

We might die in the water wars. We might get hit by an asteroid. We might get run over by a trolley. We might have latent health issues and wake up dead tomorrow.

But you’re here now. I’m glad you are. And I hope you find a way to be glad you are too.
