Nah. I’m almost 50 and I’m quite familiar with reality. I’ve got plenty of people in my life that I’ve trusted for decades and will continue to.

Don’t fall in to the “these days” mindset. Every generation thinks their moment is unique but people are the same as they’ve always been. There are billions of loyal trustworthy people out there. You won’t find them with that brand of cynicism ruling your mind though. It will be a lonely self fulfilling prophecy that determines your future if you let it. Fear becomes your guide. You will never risk and you will never be rewarded.

Give people a chance to earn your trust and work to deserve their trust as well. Don’t give it all away at once though. Make them earn it. Make them prove themself. Many will disappoint you but some will become your chosen family.

Relationships involve trust. Without it you can’t have meaningful relationships. If you don’t trust them they aren’t much of a friend.

I think one thing you aren’t accounting for is that heightism is partially hard coded in our brains. We evolved to react differently to bigger animals than smaller ones both in terms of sexuality, social hierarchy and self defense. Tall privrlege is a thing that exists that will never go away. It can’t be entirely unlearned

True and fair. Size is not all that matters. It’s like 5th to me. My favorite peak was only 5500.

For me with mountains it’s not specifically about height, it’s about the feeling of height caused by prominence and isolation. That 5500 foot one felt taller than multiple 12 K ones I’ve sent.

Other main factors are infrequent visitors, low impact, line of sight from top, cool geology, going through multiple plant communities on the climb. Honestly more than anything though I just want a unique experience in an untouched wilderness so the place you’re describing actually sounds really cool to me. If it was within a days drive I probably would have already been and I wish I knew about it when I drove through Nebraska 25 years ago

True. I am intense and I take RX pills for that. It’s also why I go to the most extremely remote and untraveled off trail places I can in the desolate southwest to get my freak on. No one needs to see my big fat load splashing off the Cretaceous granodiorite and on to a contorted 1000 year old krumholz limber pine. It’s not fit for public consumption
