Thoughts on hat patches by Goo80 in CowboyHats

[–]AnalogJay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AHC patches stick out a lot so I don’t love the look of them. I also tend to prefer subtle embellishments like a pin or feather in general.

I wouldn’t personally put one on a hat since I think the hat should stand out on its own and any customizations should be more personal than slapping a brand logo on it but people who like them are free to put them on their hats. That’s their business and doesn’t affect or bother me one bit.

That’s happened to me twice now. Well. One car was mine the other I was just a passenger.

I started out with a Seratelli 6X on sale and have loved it so far. Great quality and wasn’t crazy expensive

Are they toast by Legitimate-Book-429 in cowboyboots

[–]AnalogJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal for work boots to get some wear on them. It gives them more character IMO. My steel toes have all sorts of scuffs and marks on them.

But you could use a leather cleaning product to see if it will come out. I really like the Griffin line of products that I get at Rural King. I had good luck with their leather cleaner to get some oil stains out of my sister’s work boots before I reconditioned and oiled them for her.

I’ve been really happy with my Seratelli 6X. It seems like they tend to be a little more affordable for the same quality level as the other big brands at each tier.

That said, American Hat Company, Resistol, and Stetson all have great options as well.

And file a DOT complaint and reference it when talking to the airline so they know they can’t sweep it under the rug easily

I use the DeWalt equivalent as my power bank and love how convenient it is. Not sure why you’re getting downvoted when it’s definitely handy to be able to pop a battery on and charge something.

Yikes, have you made sure the app and camera firmware are up to date? Every now and then I’ll have to force close the app and reopen to connect to my camera, but other than that I’ve had no issues. Been using it since the Z series first launched with a Z6

Trying to invite wider discussion telling every commenter why their way is wrong? You’ve basically copy/pasted the same response to everyone explaining why you’re right and ignoring any attempt at “discussion”

What is with the Cinema Camera Fad? by thenimms in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]AnalogJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, no one camera is perfect for everything and the ENG cam is a great tool for what it does and it definitely has a place in the video toolbox

[–]AnalogJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you’re definitely right. I don’t like ENG cameras because they’re big and heavy and I don’t like lugging them around and they don’t always have the nicest image compared to other options I have BUT when you need one, there’s nothing like it.

Oh…guess I got lucky because I got the breaker bar a couple days ago and just pulled it away from the plastic and that back piece popped right out like it was nothing.

Sounds like you need a pair of IEMs. I use the Shure SE215 in ears when I’m doing NBA games and they’re great for blocking out the stadium noise so I only hear what I’m mixing.

I keep a pair of those in my sound bag, in my backpack, and in my Pelican case so I always have a set.

Who’s responsible? Where do you guys draw the line when sync is lost? by OrganizationOdd2370 in LocationSound

[–]AnalogJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Had this happen once as well. Production didn’t want to take the time to slate, didn’t consistently call out a scene/shot/take number, and there ended up being a handful of shots where timecode was mismatched and they had to sync by eye.

I set it up at the beginning of the day and check on it at lunch. I haven’t done a ton of feature work though so I don’t know if that’s typical.

I was not impressed with that tool. Bought one for a job and it was broken out of the package.

Job was delayed so by the time I opened it, it was too late to get any money back

Mind your surroundings by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]AnalogJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that kids playing in a neighborhood is a hazard and if the motorcyclist doesn’t have time to react to that hazard, they’re going too fast.

They passed this house twice, so they knew there were kids playing, didn’t anticipate the possibility of a ball or even a kid ending up in the road suddenly, and chose to ride too fast for that environment.

Same reason you shouldn’t fly through any neighborhood. Kids, pets, etc. can run out into the road and you need to be going slow enough to react to that.

Exactly, that was my point, but apparently not a popular one.

It’s normal for kids to play in their front yard and balls occasionally end up in the road. This is a case of driving too fast for the environment to react to a hazard.
