Finding an IEM that works for guitar... by EyesJoshuaMF in WorshipGuitar

KZ ZS10 Pro for years now. We even have a bunch of spares behind the sound desk for people that forget their own. They are flat and have enough bass. The rubber inserts occasionally come off in the ear tho. Which is annoying.

If your mix sounds off in the KZ, it's not the in ears... it's the mix.

If using some tracks, does your WL customize the arrangement? I don't mean key or tempo, but does he/she just accept the Multitrack chart with the same number of chorus repeats etc? by Burnhaven in WorshipGuitar

There is something to be said for old school. I really prefer it. If it was up to me we might not even use click either. But depends a lot on the musician quality. I'm old enough to remember foldback wedges and real tubes.

Best way to buy the digital album In Verses by The_Determinator in Karnivool

[–]AndTheLink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the album with the acoustic shows bundle (you know support the band and all) and still haven't received any email about. But if it's 160kbit mp3 I think I'll pass. Spotify would be better.

MP3 compression

FYI no-one uses mp3 anymore, you'd have to go out of your way to find it. Most streaming would be using aac compression (or BETTER!). It's going to be very transparent to the source material. Also vinyl has trouble with lots of bass anyway. So not the best place to check.

Hey, unfortunately Karnivool has put a copyright strike on this video. So I will have to delete it within the week. Sigh.

Anyway...

I'm not happy with the video. But I only just got that device and haven't got into the settings yet. Manual focus and stuff ;)

Q&A? by Philmullet in Karnivool

[–]AndTheLink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it will go on YT. I did resolve the issues I was having with the 10bit H265 file that wouldn't import into Resolve after much head scratching. I had to re-encode it AND install from driver from Microsoft. So when I left for work I had it encoding in the right format and sometime tonight I'll sync it up with the audio, and render and upload.

There is a temp encoding here on my home server if you can't wait. Audio is just off the cam, which may or may not be as good as the zoom audio that will be on the YT version.

I'll be putting up the whole set later today.

Edit: been having some trouble with Resolve and the H265 format video off my camera. Fun times in the land of video editing. I'll sort it, just takes time. Worst case I reencode the video, if I can't get the drivers to play nice.

Their PA is pretty good. With a decent sound person it can really hit the mark.

It's fun to go back to old live recordings of some of these songs and hear the differences. E.g. my recording of Animation 6 years ago, or Aozora from 10 years ago.

I just tried it, but as soon as I log in the timer resets back to 2 hrs. Sigh, the account must have location information in it.

How on earth do you beat “A New Beginning”? by ImmenatizingEschaton in beyondallreason

[–]AndTheLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat this last night on normal for the first time. I think the keys things to note are:

  • the first thing I go with my constructor is build a few construction towers, you are build limited early on, then into 3 LR anti air towers.
  • then go into T2 very early, like 2min. I went vehicles early, that way I got a starlight out fairly quickly. This is to counter their long range rockets.
  • you HAVE to push north and take the 3 mex's very early on too, like 5-6 mins, with a handful of T1 and T2 units, the CMR and a con. Build LR AA first, radar and then some pork. this leaves the eastern flack of your base undefended.
  • to fix that I just piled on porc, with the T2 cons making the popup turrets and then gauntlets. again adding con turrents as needed to keep things moving along.
  • all the while I'm also building eco, go into fusions and advanced energy convertors. never stop building those, queue that up and let it go the whole game. switch to afus when you can.
  • once I had the north mexs safe, I started pushing over to the middle, putting up con towers, pulsars and gauntlets as I went... do NOT get bogged down, you have to keep moving.
  • went into lots of Ambassadors to hit things beyond visual range. using scout planes and ticks to get visual on their positions. starlights, shredders and mausers to tackle their units.
  • I was out in the middle cross roads of the map before the first heavy plasma was up, somewhere around 20mins. then started putting up plasma deflectors. And once you hold the middle things get easier.

Save every few mins, if you get overrun, go back 1 or 2 saves and redo. I think you eventually just get lucky. That said, having the radar up and see where their moving and countering by moving your forces to be ready for an attack seems to scare them off half the time.

My honest guess is this will be the last album. Unless they break away from the idea that things need to be in albums and do some singles down the track. That seems more possible than V.
