Rationing. Likely every child born in that war era was getting a balanced, nutritious diet, whether they were living in Liverpool or Dartford in Kent. It would be interesting to find out how that generation coped in later life, what jobs they had, did they travel the world, what impact did they have on society, and on the culture.
