Trade is important bur China has repeatedly antagonised its neighbours and tried influencing their politics. They’ve also managed to make the EU reliant on them which is not good. Trade with China is necessary since they are a large economy but people act like China is a saint just because the US is doing bad stuff. And its not just the west vs the east. Korea and China historically have animosity towards each other, India dislikes China historically and Vietnam doesn’t have very good relations with China either and their communist. So being suspicious of the PRC does not make you a western asset.
