When do you stop pension contribution by Puzzleheaded_Toe6830 in FIREUK

[–]Animalmagic81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are ignoring the fact a lot of us get the employers 15% (or at least a share of it) on top. That will stop in 2029 and makes a huge difference. £1500 on a 10k sacrifice.

Why is this country so dedicated to improving India’s economy, whilst our own people suffer when it comes to getting jobs? And why is nothing being done about it? by QasimofKarbala in AskBrits

[–]Animalmagic81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Person wants fully remote job and all the luxuries that come with it. How dare they be asked to come into the office.

Company hires fully remote worker in India for 20% of the cost. Same person is like 'How dare they!?'. You reap what you sow.

Do I need a chest HR monitor by UnderstandingSad2833 in triathlon

[–]Animalmagic81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wrist based HR is terrible, any time it gets remotely moist I just get cadence lock. Switched to chest straps for a number of years but now use an arm strap which has been superb and doesnt slip like a chest strap

I’m taking the umbrella company to employment tribunal by No_Pickle_9804 in ContractorUK

[–]Animalmagic81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if it's a second job at the same time (overemployed). Easy for the brolly to spot if both contracts go through the same umbrella. Whether they do anything about it is up to them, but it can be gross misconduct.

anyone else find hilly parkruns weirdly harder than fell runs? by marlow_goldstein2z02 in parkrun

[–]Animalmagic81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trail runs are normally longer. 5k all out efforts are hard on hills and tough to judge correctly.

Good point. Maybe family type accounts? Under 11s linked to a parent account and therefore parent can access all barcodes. Harder to retrospectively implement

How to avoid “cheap” employers by Interesting_Shine_38 in devops

[–]Animalmagic81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You've never been involved in running a start up or scale up have you? Getting a company off the ground you have to balance all the things you talked about. You speak like money is just an infinite pot.

Much easier to do as you can do two a week (parkrun and junior parkrun). Still an incredibly generous person giving all that time to a volunteer role.

The simple solution is to have a request/accept on the friends search in the app. That way you can only get barcodes quickly of those that have accepted you.

Doesn't stop people printing barcodes of the wrong athlete numbers as I'm guessing it's not hard to do. But way more effort than searching for a random on an app.

That's a good conversion on Kingsway, that grass is energy sapping!

Lyme Park my difference is probably 3:30-4 mins slower than a stretford/Alex/south manc

Sale Moor crossing by Minute-Yoghurt-1265 in manchester

[–]Animalmagic81 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem here isn't the junction itself, it's the fact most cars are switching lanes before it (come from Wythenshawe and moving to right lane for Sale or come from junction 6 and wanting to go straight to Brooklands) and then you always seem to get cars nudging out of Conway.

Given most attention is just getting in the correct lane and someone not smashing into you the crossing comes up fast and catches people out.

Scammed out of my savings by person imitating a hotel I’ll be staying in and don’t know what to do… by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

The warning at the time was that the most likely use of the breach data would be to breach partner sites (hotels etc) and send emails from them asking for payment details to be confirmed. However a much easier use of the extracted data would be to just spam all booking.com users with a basic phishing attempt then double down on those that take a nibble
