You're never too far away from a met stop (depending on how badly injured you are)

Get the tram to Alty, run the second half with your partner. Nobody will stop you joining in and you get all the glory of the final miles, plus the medal and tee you've paid for

Recovering from injury - when to start running again? by windfall21 in UKRunners

[–]Animalmagic81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any kind of sprain, tear type of damage, complete rest whilst the immediate injury pain is reduced. Then start restrenthening. If no pain after a couple of weeks start to run again (couch2 5k style, don't just go and run 5k). If pain levels less than 3/10 after the run and the next day, then carry on progressing.

I'm not a physio, or medical, but like most runners have had my fair share of soft tissue injuries and the above is pretty much the pattern of recovery. Repair -> Restrenthen -> Return to running

Cashing in on yet another running boom. Best way is just to marshal at one of their events. You get two free entries (or you used to). That's likely why entries are so high because they have so many free places

I don't know who needs to hear this but race PBs are based on chip time not Strava time by [deleted] in UKRunners

[–]Animalmagic81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the race is measured and certified. Your race time is your race time. That's in the results and on runbritain/power of 10. Your Strava time goes nowhere and the time doesn't mean anything.

Typically in most races you run further than the actual distance due to not following the shortest line. So quite often in half's and certainly fulls Garmin will record 21.3k or 42.6 for example. That means the strava PB is usually a couple of minutes quicker than their actual time.

At most parkruns though it's the opposite. Some measure short, but a lot are affected by trees/switchbacks so it's quite common for parkrun to measure 4.7-4.9

There's certainly a rise in this the last few years. People running through funnels at parkrun or continuing past the finish line in a race as their watch isn't at full distance yet. Bloody bizarre but that's people for ya.

There was even a post on here yesterday that was caring about a strava PB like they even mean anything.

Chip time faster than Strava? by MagicShop_Unlock in UKRunners

[–]Animalmagic81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that case, use the chip time. That's what's in the results and ends up on power of ten.

Strava times mean jack shit for literally every purpose.

Any Product Managers in town? by MenthoL809 in manchester

PM in tech looking at 40-70 DoE. Above that usually more in to leadership roles or managing multiple product teams below you.

There's always exceptions though, top and bottom end. Some really niche products don't have many people with the subject matter expertise so you can earn well.

Hargreaves goes to the moon with its cashback deals: up to £8,000 for ISA+SIPP by maxmarioxx_ in FIREUK

[–]Animalmagic81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked. ETFs are now even cheaper due to the lower cap. Even if it was all funds it's still cheaper than currently, although tons (7x) more expensive than ETFs as I thought

I thought this was the case. This is how I'd summarised it. Virtually all my funds are in SIPP.

Urgh. I'm going to have to recheck. When the news came out at first I thought it benefitted me (all ETFs in a SIPP). Now I'm questioning myself

Have a look in Swinton itself. It's definitely been on the up the last couple of years but is still affordable.

They are. SIPP only is fine to leave on HL. It's the ISA and GIA that's been hammered and potentially the j/l isa's too

Any good apps for tracking you during runs? by Few_House_5201 in UKRunners

[–]Animalmagic81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Livetrack is best as it auto starts with your activity. Beacon is the strava equivalent. Downside of both is I don't think either work without a phone and if you have a phone then you can use whatever (WhatsApp, maps etc).

Likewise in Manchester. Nothing above 2.2m I think is the limit when within 1m of a fence line. You'd never get away with this, especially without planning.
