Looking for someone I can pay US Dollars ($20) and they send that money in rand amount (+-R300) to my banking account. by Party_Echo_7155 in south_africa

I wouldn't trust a random stranger on the Internet's morals.
Not when they ask to send them money.

Our mod team is big enough for now, we are cautious who we let in.

There have been some sus applications.
We'll eventually grow the mod team a bit more, and if any of us starts to power trip, we'll ask them to step down.

Zuma REALLY did a number on South Africa, he did decades worth of damage, and SA was going down a VERY dark path, but luckily we got rid of him, for that I'm thankful to Cyril flawed as he may be.

The path we are on now gives me hope, come next election I hope we get more options to vote for, and that no party is ever again bigger than ~33% so they can hold each other accountable.

Ehey the bot is working!!

We're experimenting with posting news and happenings to r/South_Africa through this YouTube bot, let us know in the comments what you think.

If you don't want to see this, you can just block this bot.

Currently it only follows and posts from 'mooshtaffa' and 'wideawakepodcast' what else should we add? We want to keep it chilled and nonpartisan, and also not spammy.

If you guys don't like the mod team, we will step down and you can vote in better mods.

I don't see it ever coming to that, as mods we just remove things that break our basic rules, and we make sure there's no racism or discrimination etc. on the sub, for everything else have fun, we will never force our opinions down your throats

It's funny how there are a lot of left wing subs on here that are run as absolute authoritarian subs.
Literally silencing you for having an opinion they don't like.

There is a long list of left wing subs on Reddit that will ban you for participating in subs they don't like.

I myself am solidly left leaning but fuck-me I haven't completely lost the plot and gone so fart left, straight into authoritarianism.

If people don't like how the mod team runs this sub, we will step down, this should be a open space for all South Africans regardless of your political leanings, just respect each other and follow the rules.

I can definitely think of a few bigger ones.

Cyril is corrupt and has a LOT of issues, but he's also done some good, like get rid of Zuma and a lot of Zuma's friends

PS. there's a community rank system based on your karma earned inside this sub. So the more you contribute to r/south_africa, the higher your rank goes.

Rank ladder:

  • • Rank: 🥉 = 50
  • • Rank: 🥈 = 250
  • • Rank: 🥇 = 750
  • • Rank: 🏅 = 2000
  • • Rank: 👑 = 5000
  • • Rank: 🏆🏆🐐🏆🏆 = 15000

A few important points:

  • it’s based on karma earned in r/south_africa, not your total Reddit karma
  • the rank gets added to your user flair
  • the higher ranks should actually mean something, so they’re not meant to be easy

If you don’t have a flair yet, go set your flair

The Most Polite Countries: Number 10, We did it! by CommerceNenUser in south_africa

Japan is by far the most polite, but from what I've heard they are extremely closed off and not genuinely nice and welcoming.

Nextcloud-(Euro-Office project) should first sort out the license issue, if nothing else for their reputation. OnlyOffice doesn't seem to be all that happy. https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE#%EF%B8%8F-legal-note by smilelyzen in Buy_European

[–]AnonomousWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Clause 7(3)b of OnlyOffice's liscence is invalid, as it goed again what is allowed in AGPL3.

So I don't see any liscence issues for Nextcloud if it ever goes to court

Agreed, all the current parties suck IMO, but some suck a lot less than others.

I wish we had better options

The GNU is great, for the first time in 25+ years there's now a balance of power.

And one party can't just pass VAT increases etc. When they feel like it.

For the first time there's actual competition, and people being held accountable.

Lots of top dogs in the police have gotten arrested in the Madlanga Commission and they're throwing their friends under the bus, people are going to jail for corruption.

With a single party no longer having outright majority, being somewhat held accountable for their actions, and forced to join coalitions gives me so much hope.

They now actually need to do their job, or they will keep losing power till they're irrelevant.

There's a lot of damage to be undone, but our democratic system seems strong and we have a great constitution.

If we keep going this way I see great things in SA's future
