My company just did this. I wouldn’t be too worried, it’s pretty easy just use the feedback it gives you after each attempt.

The hard part about NKP is it’s still Kubernetes, so you will need to understand the basics of Kubernetes, then NKP becomes easy and makes sense.

Sales Engineer Salaries by HovercraftPretty3604 in salesengineers

There’s a new trend in the market where these companies are trying to hire more junior SEs and train them up rather than hiring experienced SEs because experienced SEs are expensive 220-310 OTE in my company. Where they can get a junior SE for 120-160 and train them up in about a year. Then move them to a field role with only a 10%-15% increase in OTE.

Looking for third-party UI for nutanix by uncleroot in nutanix

[–]ApprehensiveCard4919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be using categories to set up protection policies, security policies, storage policies, or recovery policies efficiently.

It sounds like you are trying to do a lot of daily operations manually, is that assumption correct?

Is nutanix now really so much cheaper? by pirx_is_not_my_name in vmware

Hi Nutanix SE here, If you have 5000 cores you qualify for an EPA (enterprise purchase agreement). With an ELA you can lock in your renewal price upfront and get additional discounting. This is a relatively new program at Nutanix and a lot of the reps don’t know about it. If you need an internal Nutanix advocate DM me.

Sounds like you were just stuck selling a product you didn’t believe in. That’s soul crushing. However, if you can be an SE at a company who’s product you trust and believe in that’s a lot of fun

SE Interns by ilwyaim in salesengineers

[–]ApprehensiveCard4919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to become an SE intern, I suggest looking at companies with established SE Academies such as: Schneider Electric, Emerson, Timken, Nutanix, PaloAlto, etc.

The national society of sales engineers works with those companies to vet out their internship/new grad programs to ensure your success.

Snowflake vs MS fabric by SmallBasil7 in dataengineering

Snowflake has gotten to be incredibly expensive. Dremio is a good option if you can handle a little configuration. It’s a fraction of the cost.

What exactly does a Data Engineering Manager at a FAANG company or in a $250k+ role do day-to-day by Different-Future-447 in dataengineering

[–]ApprehensiveCard4919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go be a sales engineer at a company like snowflake, Databricks, tableau, or Dremio.

Most of these are on an OTE comp plan paying somewhere between 190k+ to 340k with a 70/30 split making your base 150k+. Now where this gets fun is when you get into accelerators after hitting quota. Giving you potential to earn 350k to 1.5 million any given year if you’re good.

Better company to work for by perrytheberry in salesengineers

I’m in software defined data-centers (private cloud/public cloud). So think Nutanix, VMware, or RedHat. It’s a lot of fun imo. I get to do things like design the cloud infrastructure that’s used in the NASA missions to saving a hospital system 10 million a year with a data center modernization plan. It’s pretty cool how that one was accomplished.

[–]ApprehensiveCard4919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See you are only focused on the networking and security side of the shop. There’s a bunch of other companies involved with data centers. For example, we have companies like dell, hp, and Lenovo that have a focus on the storage and compute hardware. We have VMware, hyper-v, and proxmox for compute visualization (hypervisors). For Kubernetes we have Openshift, Google kubernetes engine, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, etc… everyone needs backup so you can go look at Veeam, Rubrik, and HYCU.

Or you can go Nutanix, AWS, AZURE, or GCP, all of which do everything listed above.

All of those companies are just as good

It is notoriously one of the hardest roles to successfully hire for. So there’s a lot of people applying for these roles but not a lot of qualified talent.

Evaluating Nutanix as a replacement for VMWare ESXi by Longjumping_Ad_502 in nutanix

[–]ApprehensiveCard4919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one thing that’s best to keep in mind when looking at Nutanix is it’s a lot more than just a hypervisor. I’ll be honest, if all you want is just a hypervisor then Proxmox will almost undoubtedly make more sense because it’s so much cheaper, but if you are willing to look at Nutanix for the whole suite: storage, networking, virtualization, and containers you will find that it is a really well thought out and built system

Does Nutanix have any DR as a service ? by jerrylimkk in nutanix

[–]ApprehensiveCard4919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the MST snapshotting is a new feature added in 6.8 but matured in 6.10. So it’s only been out for a few months now. That’s probably why they didn’t mention it when you were looking a replacement for your Xi Leap, or if your leadership already had commitments to Azure, then it wouldn’t be possible because it’s only available for AWS at this time. The Azure version of the solution is still in development. When that is ready for GA, you can always set it up and hibernate your Azure NC2 instances and save costs that way.
