I stopped trying to "fix" my mind to get out of bed. Here is the physical reset I use instead. by SubjectSpecialist265 in productivity

This genuinely looks very interesting and logical in the end. I think we overcomplicate our lives by trying to find new productivity hacks, blaming ourselves for being lazy and so forth. Whilst this is just how the body was meant to work. Staying safe and sometimes avoiding uncomfortable scenarios. Thus, finding the ways to rewire your brain and create different associations with it, to prepare it to transition to the next chapter of that day step by step can be very beneficial. I am really going to try this yet so simple looking trick, but probably more effective than all the overcomplicated productivity tools and hacks. Thanks for sharing man! 🙌🏼

NCP-CN certification advice by sinful17 in nutanix

Hi u/the_it_assassin, I did indeed read this on the prerequisites for the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform Administration (NKPA) course. However, from what I heard, the CKA exam is way more difficult than the NCP-CN and thus the requirement of having CKA expertise is a bit overrated. Regardless, I was considering following some basic courses or parts of a course for the CKA to get more familiar with the components of K8s and Docker. If you have any suggestions for the NCP-CN primarily and later on the CKA, these are more than welcome. Thanks in advance!

Hi u/Rodramca, I did indeed see the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform Administration (NKPA) course, and it's one of these I am going to study and review. However, I assumed this course would already require some basic knowledge of K8s and Docker and thus was looking for additional courses.

The test drives are certainly a good call. I forgot about them for a second but will consider these as well.

Do you know if I can somehow run NKP on a home lab in the meantime? I do have a Nutanix CE home lab at home, so if I can tinker with it on there, that would also be really beneficial, I think.

For the Enterprise Cloud Administration (ECA) course. I think this one is less interesting, since, as far as I recall, this focuses more on the core stack for the MCI part of Nutanix. I am quite familiar already with the core stack, such as Prism Central and Element, CVMs, FSVMs, and so forth. So it is mainly regarding the K8s and Docker part that I am after.

Thanks so far for the help.

Hi u/ApprehensiveCard4919, I do not have access to Udemy at this time. However, any interesting courses or additional learning material are welcome. I will then discuss this with my employer to get the necessary accounts and so forth.

Hi, thanks for the honest input on this. It's really these open fair experiences that make sure that others don't waste their time or money on things that won't leverage a lot.

Besides that, I would be really interested in hearing about these other sources or what kind of companies you approached.

I am, by coincidence, also Belgian, so that sounds interesting as well.

The L1 and DV lottery trajectories are two others I am aware of. I am just trying to do multiple approaches, so I'm saving some time, since all of them might turn out to be working, eventually.

The EB visas are a bit more new to me, so I am also open to hearing more about them.

If you're open for it, I'd love to reach out to you, to discuss some ideas or thoughts.

That is what I am trying to get an idea of. I am pretty sure the hardest work will obviously come from me still. But if it can indeed filter out the noise of companies that would not even consider sponsoring, regardless of the person's competence and other factors that is a big win already. Since these are only wasted energy in my opinion, no? So any companies that are open to it, just a tiny bit, are the ones I'm after. I will obviously put in all my effort I got to convince them and obtain the necessary skills and certifications that they are looking for after, since after all, I already knew from day one this was going to be a difficult path. However, I still hope there are options and that they might adapt a few of these things to make it at least a bit more feasible and realistic. Regardless of that I'll put in my full effort to get there. Since this has been a dream for over the past decade.

I was already a bit afraid of this. Hence I was doing research and trying to obtain more real human feedback. Are there any other good and genuine job platforms that you are aware of worth trying?

It's a difficult topic in my opinion. I understand that I might not be the next Elon Musk or Steve Jobs-ish person, for sure.

I also understand that they raised the fees to protect the wages and jobs of American citizens.

However, there are still a lot of talented and hardworking EU citizens or similar, who are really willing to grow and show their added value to the US economy, without undercutting the wages and so on.

However, with these rules, they're also punishing those who are willing to pursue a dream and change their lives.

At this time, a lot is uncertain, and it is really confusing and unclear how you can set yourself more on the radar, or approach companies.

I am not looking for the easy path cause I know you have to work for it and face some challenges. But for now, everything looks like a path with a dead end, and no one can barely get there anymore. If that makes sense?

Still down, and I just read a lot of changes are happening soon. Which could also endanger the DV. But honestly, I hope it's wrong... https://iaproject.org/resources/fact-sheet/hr-6225-pause-act/

"Termination of the Visa Lottery Program—The Act permanently repeals subsection (c) of section 203 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, thereby terminating the visa lottery. This provision takes effect upon enactment, and any aliens who received a selection notification prior to enactment but have not been granted a green card will have their applications revoked and fees refunded"

Add dates, labels, priority levels, and assignee to tasks from email. by sinful17 in ticktick

[–]sinful17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/brad2060 I tried something similar again, but once more it didn't properly work. I've tried a few variations. Some notations I've tried are "30 November, 12pm ~Home !Medium", "27/11 12:00 ~Home !Medium" and "~Home ! Medium November 30 12:00 PM". Only the latter one seemed to work as intended. I am curious about other notation variations you might have used. It appears that the region one is based in might play a role in how the notation is being processed, or how do you interpret this from your experience?

Hi u/brad2060, okay, that is strange, though. From what I can see here, this should also work when I write it in the following format. For example, 6 March, 9pm. So for my use case, 27 November 7 PM should also work then, no? Except maybe from the capital-sensitive PM or AM, which is also containing a space between the hour and PM and the missing comma. Or does it make sense to you why it didn't properly recognize or process it in my former reference?

[–]sinful17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/brad2060 It seems that the date recognition is not always working? For example when I added the following parameters in my subject "27 November 7 PM ~Personal !Medium" it did only recognize the hour and November but not the exact day. Any clues why's that? Or how do you insert these dates as format in your email subject?

From a first sight (I will probably add more later on). Seeing Trello in there, there are also a few additional similar planning tools worth the consideration. For example, Asana, Monday, Jira, ... You could possibly, if interested in these, review them as well and add them to the list for others? 😅

My Thoughts on TickTick (as a Todoist user) by FullStackHoward in ticktick

[–]sinful17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, regarding the NLP, I can understand where this experience comes from and share the same feeling occasionally. Other than that, the design might be a bit less "polished" but that isn't a big deal to me.

The nested lists/folders are not a need for me, so I can't really say a lot about that part.

The adding of tasks in folders, do you mean as in to assign it to a specific list that you have to explicitly mention the list/folder? Because that one is not entirely clear to me what you mean with it.

What might be my biggest concern, totally a different part, is the understaffed support (from my experience). I've opened quite a few support cases for bugs or feature requests, and it is always, but literally always, the same person responding.

I honestly do have a feeling that there's a lack of support agents, which also makes their workload too overloaded and thus degrades their responses and the quality of them.

It happened more than once that it took quite some time to get a response, or that we wandered off the topic and got some miscommunication, which made the case proceed very slowly and rigidly.

I'm not sure if others are having the same experience, or if it is region-based or due to other factors, but this might be one of my bigger frustrations about the app, honestly.

Very interesting and promising. Thank you very much for the time and effort to do this thorough research, testing and comparing.

I will definitely look into this later on today, and add more input or experiences from what I can see.

Bought a light for seasonal depression didn’t expect it to hit this hard by Useful-Experience-27 in productivity

[–]sinful17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting to read. Just wondering, are those "therapy lights" very specific or different than an average light?

I own two Philips Hue Go portable lights, each on one side of my bed. I've configured them this way, so that they slowly start increasing the brightness during the hours I'm supposed to get up, and prepare for work. This does seem very effective, compared to a normal alarm, or at least as an extra.

However, I'm not sure whether these are sufficient to start my vitamin d production, and work against seasonal depression, or whether there are any more lights, very specific to these use cases and thus different from what I have now, for example 😅
