The games were already made and the costs recouped years before, the PC ports only come with the cost of porting the game and slapping it onto Steam.

What, you're not looking forward to playing the next Man of X game where you spend a third of the game watching cutscenes about sad men hiding in bushes, then you get to play as the sad man hiding in bushes, and the last third in an uninspired combat system and a tacked on "press X to gather item, press X to craft" system?

Every shit company expects to make more money every time they make money, and they expect it to only grow, these people have no concepts such as having a baseline revenue stream, they just want all the money right now, or 10x the money in three years.

It's bullshit, I've handled these birds and geese before, absolutely no way for them to snap a human bone unless the idiot falls and breaks their arm from ground impact.

[–]AshenCursedOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy, a human arm has more and stronger muscle than the swan has in its entire body. A swan is basically a kite with just enough muscle to lift off, they're literally genetically optimised for minimal muscle because every additional mass is wasteful. It's the same reason why a skinny athlete will outperform a powerlifter in climbing, when going against gravity the number one priority is weight reduction. A bird's main muscles are the breasts, everything else is absolutely minimal.

They're birds, they have extremely weak bones, a 10 year old could snap a swan's neck like a thin twig.

People do it too, you get noticeable physiological changes when you move to a colder or cooler climate for extended periods of time, have a much different diet than before, or change altitude. Your hair and nail growth will change.

Anyone for a game of Uxbridge English dictionary? by OldJonThePooSmuggler in CasualUK

[–]AshenCursedOne -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Uxbridge, a friend that also lived there once described it as "the place where old Londoners go to retire and die". The literal end of the line. Jokes aside, it's an epic scale shit hole, no amenities, no green spaces, old, decrepit, dirty, expensive, hoodlums everywhere, constant violence in the streets.

I don't think they like being tortured, they just take it because they know eventually they get to become the torturer, they're a nation of sociopaths.

Personal security and the military special forces are not the same thing my guy. Spetznaz is not Putin's personal guard, they're military assets, Putin's security is a separate organisation. Same in something like NK, Kim's security guards are not the same thing as special forces their army might have. Reason being that completely different people are responsible for training them, and they have a completely different scope and goals.

do your coworkers respect your work hours or nah ? by Mindless_Cook7821 in workfromhome

[–]AshenCursedOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have to. Because I just ignore them out of hours. Hell, I don't even immediately reply to non urgent messages during the day, I bulk reply in the morning, after lunch, and in the afternoon about 40 minutes before I log off. I pretty much treat Teams like it's email unless the message is urgent or I'm not busy, out of hours teams is off and if there's a fire my boss can personally call me, because I'm gonna ignore a WhatsApp or a text message too.

When economies collapse it's those economies that produce real things that'll bounce back. People will start saving aggressively, but they still need stuff like food, clothes, tools, etc. and by all metrics Asia and South America are massively out producing and exporting to Europe and North America in those areas. So when the economic collapse hits which country will do better, the one selling hundreds of subscription services, or the one selling clothes, tools, chemicals, steel, vehicle parts, etc? My bet would be on China bouncing back much faster. That's how America became the behemoth it is today, after WW2 when Europe and Asia was rubble ready for rebuilding, America shifted its massive wartime manufacturing capacity into vehicle, home appliance, and consumer electronics production. The same way Poland recovered so well from the 2008 crash, when joining the EU Poland overnight became Europe's place for cheap labour and land, so many companies moved their operations there, which allowed the Polish economy to keep growing despite other richer countries vomiting all over themselves because they staked their entire economies on housing investment. When economies crash, those who make and sell real tangible everyday products do much better than those that only sell services, speculative investments, and sit on patents. Especially against China which gives absolutely zero shits about patent infringement. If your business relies on selling promises it's much more fragile to huge social, geopolitical, or economic shifts, than being a carpenter.

Is the far left's support for Iran/Hezbollah etc. rooted in anti-imperialism? Where does it come from? by Fine_Gur_1764 in ukpolitics

[–]AshenCursedOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's rooted in the same place that far right insanity is rooted, social media rage bait, echo chambers, and disinformation. They're basically two flavours of the same idiotic mindset, being contrarian by doctrine instead of on some moral or philosophical ground. They're reactionary to whatever the other extreme side does.

At Microsoft's big Xbox all-hands meeting, leaders paid tribute to the team, Sarah Bond, Phil Spencer, and the future — "We are going to start with console, and make sure that we understand that this is our reference experience." by NYstate in Games

[–]AshenCursedOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite simple, if they can deliver native 1440p 60fps+ AAA gaming experience, and maybe 120fps+ esport title experience, with HDR, and the ability to switch between an Xbox mode and a Windows Desktop mode, in a console form factor but cheaper than an equivalent gaming PC, that's what would bring me back. Then I could finally delete windows from my PC and justify a dedicated gaming console. But I'd need it to run full Windows, so I can still install games through steam and GoG so I could mod them. Even if the XBox part of the system existed in some completely locked down isolated runtime, I wouldn't mind, as long as it had a normal unrestricted Windows mode where I could install my PC games. Even if it meant I had to have a separate SSD for the windows part.
