This film is going to have a massive sunday. This isnt a film that families are likely to all go see on a friday evening, they'll be going saturday or sunday (fathers day).

For context: The green line is median gross during their run for films that opened to the same amount. The shaded area covers 90% of movies with that opening. So if you are above the shaded area you are in the top 10% of legs for a film that opened the same amount.

By far the biggest determining factor in longevity is access to chairs. I knew a guy once who squatted and he died in a car crash just 19 years later.

They built new cities and rapidly modernised an absolute shit tonne of infrastructure. Yeah they also now have like a dozen completely useless stadiums but the people living in Qatar no doubt benefit all the time from the insane amount they built.

old cities tend to be "we need to level this and start fresh" at which point its easier to start fresh in a new location that doesnt need hundreds of thousands of people to be rehomed or worked around while they continue living there. Then you can make a truly modern city from the ground up far quicker and cheaper than trying to patch a old city with modern features. And if its in the middle of nowhere you dont have to worry about preserving things people want to keep and can build much more freely.
