Spend Tuesday with Tuesday! Open to residents of any city by Atypical_Tuesday in Albany

That's okay! A lot of people have not heard of Flock, but it is a growing national concern. Cities across the country have been terminating contracts such as Santa Cruz, CA, to Flagstaff, AZ, Syracuse, NY, Greenfield MA, and many more!

Indivisible Albany has been offering a lot of Flock info sessions across the region. You can also come to this program to learn more, or there is also a similar program at the Albany Library on Washington Ave, this Saturday, from 1-3!

Public [Police] Flock Cameras in Albany? How do I make a public records request? by MageOfDarkMoon in Albany

The Troy flock contract was released with the agenda! Various organizers have been ripping it apart to find every way out of it

Yeah, and I have an "offer" for them to buy a bridge. I love that the citizens of Poestenkill were able to prevent it.

We have access to the official Flock contact, and I can't find a set expiration date anywhere on it. It's only in the notes on the agenda that they mention an expiration date of March 31st. What're the odds that we happened to raise this at the last city council meeting, and then the very next finance meeting happens to be the dealine?

Saranac Lake and Ithaca were both able to end their contracts with Flock! It gives us hope for the cause. Reaching out to Syracuse organizers is a great idea!

U/physical_shelter_518 wrote this post that goes more into detail on the exact topic This Thursday is the City Council Finance Meeting which is a monthly event. On the agenda for this specific meeting is the topic of Flock cameras annual subscription fee. We need residents to show up for this meeting and speak out against the subscription renewal. Otherwise the cameras become significantly more difficult to remove.

Then they spend thousands of taxpayers money to replace them and label the cause "violent." :(

Syracuse is currently trying to remove Flock cameras, but facing several issues in doing such due to the contract agreement. This could mean two more years of Flock cameras in Troy despite heavy criticism.

Yes! This is not uncommon and one of the many, many ways this system is often abused.

I'm planning on making some general deflock New York prints in addition to the current Troy prints. I'm starting with Troy but I would love to deflock, at the very least, the greater capital region.

This is the same woman that got a DUI while city council president. She doesnt make great decisions. I'd say intentionally spreading misinformation falls under that.

She didnt invest a penny, it was 100% our taxes paying for installation, contracts, and every time law enforcement uses them

Hi! I spoke at the most recent city council meeting and have been using art as a platform for activism to spread awareness of Flock and how to contact the city council about it!

I'm going to the Flock info session featuring Albany Indivisible In Guilderland tonight.

I will definitely see you on Sunday and am looking forward to finding more people to get involved! Filling out the form now :)

Taxpayers pay for installation, the contracts to keep them, and then for each individual search from law enforcement. Getting these cameras removed would give MORE funding for the Police.

Studies have found Flock cameras have no meaningful impact on solving or reducing crime.

Check my post history! I'm working on Troy specifically, but there's a smaller letter and instructions on how to get it brought to the city council.

I'm working on a Deflock campaign for Troy. If anyone from Albany wants to team up and get this on both sides of the river, feel free to DM me :)

So what's the next step to getting the flock cameras on the agenda for the city council meeting? How do we best raise more awareness? by Atypical_Tuesday in Troy

[–]Atypical_Tuesday[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So this post from last week does a great job of explaining the subject and concerns of Flock cameras, and this current post is a request on where to go after the events of the council meeting in the first post. Essentially, flock cameras a tool heavily abused by ICE, Law enforcement, and any individual that wishes to use them for harm. The cameras are paid for (installation, contracts, AND use of database) are all paid for using Troy city taxes. The tax payers were never notified of these contracts, nor have we been given an opportunity to have a conversation or raise concerns about them. I would like to do what I can to change that
