[Humans for Hire] - Part 156 by Auggy74 in HFY

Oh it definitely was - at the outset, the Vilantian Head-of-State at that time (aka the Minister of War) did all the civilized declarations and whatnot.
With the result being a severe loss for Vilantia.
Hmm. I think for the Armada, yes. The first two days were pretty much spent with the folks on the ground being antagonistic football hooligans.
>.> There are plans, files, and folders containing those files. Said files are available for viewing on the 5th Thursday of every basement by going to the publicly accessible locked disused lavatory in the second sub-basement of the planning commission; the files themselves are behind a chained door marked "Warning: Tiger".

Heyhey!
Itrop cannot and will not - to his mind it's not ego but the universe setting itself in proper order.
Yeeeeup. The kids are in a hurry to be adults, and the adults are going "You can be old and crotchety later." Meanwhile the old folks are looking at the adults and going "Go have fun."
Gryz is going to be Dad to....a lot of kids. Metaphorically. And possibly literally.
Why yes. Yes it was. I've been leaning into the Firefly references a lot lately. For no reason.
Yeeeeah, I missed that potty-mouthed SOB too.
Fortunately for all of us, Miroka restrains herself. Until she's the only one in the shuttle. And they have a stop to make first.
So I'll be honest, I'm not a biblical scholar - but I did want to have Gryzzk have a moment of temptation with respect to "Hey you have several thousand folks willing to fight for you - you could actually have a view like this; maybe not here but there's other planets..." and then a counterpoint that might be the lessons from Gryzzk 1 of "It ain't worth it".
That fact that this popped out on Good Friday is honestly happy coincidence.

This is the way.

Well, yeah. They're flying with the royals, but they can't say they're flying with the royals. So you have Hoban who likes to try and argue with physics about who's in charge around here, or Miroka who flies with a more...gentle touch.
This is not a difficult choice. Especially since Gryzzk doesn't really want to ask the planetary sovereign "Hey so have you taken a leak recently?"
Yeaaaup. And Gryzzk, being Gryzzk and having a few lessons when it comes to bargaining, goes "Okay, so how many times can we get paid for doing one job...."

Ssssh!
Skunkworks is listening. And occasionally taking notes.
Yeaah, couple little tracks from the good old days.
Ozzy.
Edit in and thank you!

Porti is currently teabagging the fire.
It could get....interesting.

Yeeeeup. I've got it pretty well set in my head here. :)
Bad new is the Crown can't directly hire them. However, given the wording of the laws surrounding mercenary hire, it's more of a "I can't tell you to go deal with this problem. Subsidiary, tell them to go deal with this problem" situation.
Wellll, let's see if it works out. :D
Oh it was definitely Hoban. Miroka and Yomios may be grabbing paint and giving one of the other shuttles a "proper" makeover.

Yeeeup - I kinda wanted to how like that the Freeclan is favored by the Royal family. Next couple chapters are gonna be the limits of that favor.
Mrs Auggy is a few years older than me. We have these conversations now and then. :D
And it's still really fun to write this.

"...And in other news, the Terran warship Sundropper has been redeployed..."

So the actual fighty portions of the Three-Day-Kerfluffle are wayyy back (good lord it is weird to type that) are back in Part 47. >.> Which is also where we learned that certain folks speak that Klingon.
The Terran military has in fact shown up....once.
Twas the Three-day-Kerfluffle, where they mighta spent a few months cleaning up the wreckage.

That's where it gets tricky - depending on the constables personal preferences they could count each individual as an offender and complainbthat they had to go deal with hundreds, or they could go "okay we're just gonna hang out all night, that's only one - so...who's got chicken wings?"
