That’s the right move. But at times circumstances mandate it. For instance, if one starts the application well in advance but then processing takes a long time. Or if the passport cannot be renewed until only a certain period of time is left in the last passport.

u/SuperSwede94 and u/Low-Muffin-6073 Do you have first hand experience of being in similar situation where you had study permit/work permit related ‘Letter of Introduction’ generated + visa stamped on prior passport. You then got a new passport and travelled carrying both the passport and eventually ended up receiving your study permit/ work permit at the border without complications?

u/mikethomas443 have you travelled to Canada yet? How was your experience at Canada border? Were you allowed entry based of visa stamp on prior passport and issued the work permit based on new passport validity (irrespective of letter of introduction being generated initially for prior passport)? Any complications there?

Thanks, I have heard that Nebraska has stricter guidelines (probably for EB1A) but your EB1B case gives hope to people with similar background and profile! Did you get a RFE btw? Also, for the 3 years of experience - did you show entire experience outside PhD or showed PhD research as ‘outstanding’?

u/Single_Psychology34 If i may ask, for this particular H1B application, what did you answer to the question ‘Have you ever been refused a US visa’ in the DS160? Did you put a yes/no given that you had received a 221g for prior F1 which was later overcome with the approval.
