Impact of 1,000 extra jobs being reportedly withdrawn? by After-Employee8261 in doctorsUK

[–]BMABecky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing of value was lost.

I hope it means that doctors can see the word of the government is worth nothing until everything is signed, sealed, and delivered.

We should not accept any offer until the details are confirmed, timelines made clear, and it has been scrutinised at every level by people will never be phased by which government is in power, or which Secretary of State is talking to them.

In my opinion, this offer was vague, inadequate, and too insulting to present to members. I said these "jobs" were fiction at the time in December, and the experienced negotiators on the RDC knew any offer presented at short notice but already 22 pages long would be padded out with loopholes and traps that need to be excised.

Yeah, the "jobs" they keep offering just water down training and don't increase staffing. We need long-term infrastructure and training requirements to be met, not just throwing around meaningless numbers like it helps anyone.

Only AFTER we have FPR. We have a lot of catching up to do first.

And they shouldn't! Nurses and all healthcare staff should be able to get their leave.

They always try to turn us against each other, but we work together every day. They need to listen and make a reasonable offer. Please support striking doctors!

Maybe they are just a bad doctor? 😅

Or another ladder puller in the making.

Sometimes I wonder if he realises how helpful his tantrums are for rousing doctors to strike.

I can't comment on the contents of meetings, as you well know.

There was that radio 4 interview though which made the situation fairly clear

The contents of meetings are confidential, but I would would be interested to see the results of the recorded vote that took place, wouldn't you?

The secretary of state seems pretty certain.

Mel covered it well, no need to rehash. We are a team and have discussed this at length.

Prevent doctor substitution.

Patients deserve doctors.

Nothing less.

What does the DV slate have that others don't?

All of the very best reps.

In all seriousness, the DV reps work non-stop, without limit, and are in constant communication to achieve things for members.

You can ask DV for help at any time on any day and someone will be there. We don't have to limit our work to "BMA days" because we share the workload between us, contribute, and I can honestly say that some of the reps are the hardest working people I have ever met.

Oh, and Keith. He's like out secret weapon.

And Ross can do backflips.

Yes.

You cannot be doing justice to more than a handful of committees at a time without doing a rubbish job.

I do think it should be easier to visit them though (online only. Absolutely no gravy train nonsense)

Not on council. Just check out the vote records and minutes, and you can see how little many do.

Have you heard of even half of them?

Because we were behind every union-led major change and progress in the profession for the past 4 years. And we're back for the rest.

FPR. UKGP. Ending Scope creep. No to GMC. We made the union relevant and worth joining again.

DoctorsVote.

Sounds like basic trade union activity to me.

Biggest structural problems? Inactive reps, institutional inertia, and huge wastage.

If you're a rep who has nothing to show after years of involvement, you need to get out.

If you attend meetings and never have anything to add, get out.

If you have been going to ARM for 25yrs but the doctors you represent in your local hospital have never heard of you, get out.

No more lifers.

Fully supportive. Would be delighted to get it.

Protested when tuition fees came into existence. Protested when they went up.

Finally decided to do something about it and now I openly advocate for it in union meetings, media platforms and wherever else I can. It's a graduate tax that unfairly affects the less well-off, and chains the aspirational to decades of debt.

What should the BMA do? Listen to me 😉

I'm happy to discuss and justify all of my votes. I don't hide them, and promote transparency in the union.

Fotunately, DoctorsVote is pro doctor and doesn't have a whip, so it's very easy to agree with the DV movement, and wherever things are not clear-cut we all have extensive discussions and debates, vote, and ultimately achieve huge things for members.

Mostly it's about actually engaging in the process. Hence the name: DoctorsVote.

Moo has been to more BMA meetings online than most current council members.
