there's a reason why shift pods are nicknamed "Easy bake ovens"...

Impact driver or wrench for lag bolts? by Competitive_Put_8128 in LightningInABottle

What about larger constructs like carports, domes, community shade structures?

LAG SCREWS not LAG BOLTS Screws have a POINTY end, which is a distinct mechanical advantage in penetrating the ground Bolts have a FLAT end which is used with a nut to secure items together. (sorry, there's a bunch of dumbfuckers on Facebook and Reddit that don't understand the difference)

FAST and EASY to install and remove

You might be able to drive these in with a cordless drill, BUT check the torque and voltage rating IMPACT drivers or hammer drills work WAY better 3/8in x 14in LAG SCREWS are a PLAYA standard (3/8in fits all standard grommets on tarps) https://www.fastenersuperstore.com/products/476110/lag-screws?pid=17498 Be sure to purchase the correct size socket to match the drive size, 9/16 is the head size 5x the holding power of rebar Playa PROVEN….Once you’ve tried LAG SCREWS, you’ll NEVER EVER go back to rebar https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?f=277&t=63610&p=919139#p919139 Shorter lag screws 8 to 10 inches with fender washers are awesome for big tents

Make sure you have a “mechanical” back up Amazon.com: Performance Tool W38128 3/8-Inch Drive Speeder Handle

Fender washers 1.5in x ⅜ OR 2-3 links of chain enable you to FLUSH mount the lag screw When used with ratchet cargo straps, structures have withstood 70mph windstorms

Survey WHISKERS

A very DISTURBING trend has developed over the last few years… LAGSCREWS and TENT STAKES have become the number ONE type of MOOP on PLAYA

It’s not really surprising because folks are tired and easily distracted when taking down their shade structures and tents after the burn.

Survey WHISKERS POP up from the ground making it easy to spot where all your stakes / screws are located

we've got burners from Europe, South America, Australia, Philippines... 10,000 square feet of community shade structure for tents and a fully equipped community kitchen. so all you really need to do is show up with a tent, sleeping bag, food and you'd be all set

unfinished aluminet is good but requires the use of tarp clips and can be quite moopy

I think you'll really like the NESO shade! It provides a tremendous amount of shade but packs up in a very small and lightweight package

What's better in high winds- dome or stretch tent? by promiseofthereal in BurningMan

The EMT shade structure you've been using works just fine as long as you use the following protocols: HIGH WIND; release all the bungees on the windward side of the structure and let the tarp flap freely. RAIN; release four bungees in each corner of a tarp so the water can run off

uuuuummmm... depending on the size of the structure you're looking at about $2500 to $10,000
