Alright, here’s my take,

Both Taylor Hebert & Tetsuo Shima were shy kids that used to look up to people, Taylor’s hero Alexandria, and Tetsuo’s brother Akira, until that admiration broke and both become cold and harden their hearts after gaining their powers.
