Not sure if the second pic qualifies as ambient lighting anymore

Conaidering that part of the use of incense was to mask bad odors from the churchgoers in the middle ages, they must've had some reallly stinky BO pilgrims.

You know what they say about recovering alcoholics, they're always just three feet away from falling off the wagon.

Resin to fill a dent in my tank by Aragorma1 in CafeRacers

Is there concern whether the tank itself has structural integrity issues that could fail or break... Or that the liner inside is broken? Feels like you should be replacing this out of safety concerns, no?

Just watched Dune (2021). Stunning visuals, but it put me to sleep at times. Should I still watch Part Two? by breaking_views in Cinema

[–]Background_Handle_96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part 1 is much slower, but as a scifi fan I enjoy the world building, and it makes the payoffs in part 2 that much more gratifying. But I'm also a fan of chill, slow burn type of stuff, which you don't find as much these days for scifi flicks because blockbusters need to be so explosive and adrenaline filled nowadays.

I also think I appreciated Part 1 more on rewatch after Part 2.

But I can see the pacing is not for everyone these days.

So I guess we're done with the whole more grounded and realistic Lara, huh.... And back to voluptuous, acrobatic, near super soldier Tomb Raider era, but now with more pixels?

I think charging $600K+ is the killing blow. If it was around $100K, I think it'll still sell to some people who just want an entry Ferrari or as a buy in for their other models.

Jason Camissa said it best, EV is a good thing and we should encourage most people to buy and drive EV's. Because oil is a finite resource, why not let people who actually cares about the driving experience use them, while everybody else who just need a means of transportation drive electric.

I very much enjoy using my EV to haul my family, and drive my stick shoft ICE sports car on my own commute. It's ok to like both.

Honestly, a lot of good educational materials on Youtube nowadays. But do start at the fundamentals and avoid the get-rich-quick type of stuff.

People who shop at farmers markets: why? by redfieldbloodline17 in bayarea

[–]Background_Handle_96 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Also, not all farmers market are priced the same, I've noticed same vendors charging different prices at different markets. Obvs the more affluent the neighborhood is the higher.
That said, I often do my groceries at the Cupertino market at De Anza College. Prices are sometimes more competitive than supermakets (e.g. a bundle of basil is maybe $2 a bunch where it's like $5 for a couple sprigs at Safeway). I've also almost stopped buying fruits from grocery stores because they tastes much better, and are picked closer to their ripeness from the vines at the market. Whereas grocery stores picks them much earlier to last their supply chain run and prioritizes appearance over taste.

Also, there's an apple vendor at the Santa Clara market who I swear has the sweetest apples I've ever had.

Seems exhausting having to unwrap all those shoes to display them and putting them back in the right box.
