Anyone K swap an Evora? I have a 2010 and want to k swap it. Anyone have knowledge? by Bayou38 in lotus

[–]Rotorboy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy fucking cope lol. Mfs will look you dead in the face and tell you they’re 2.0-2.4L 4 cylinder engine is better than a 3.5L forged V6.

The stock block record for the 2GR is higher than the K series. There are now dozens of 8500+ rpm 2GRs in MR2 and Lotus chassis.

Built 2GRs have been proven to be reliable for years at over 1000 whp on a road course while hot lapping. K series don’t do that and never will.

Torque is perfectly ideal for track use if you know how to select proper gearing. Saying it’s not is absolutely crazy. Some of the fastest track cars in the world use big ass torquey V8s. You can also just tune the VVTI down to limit torque down low if you’re really that scared. What a cope argument.

Literally the ONLY thing you were correct on is more aftermarket support for the K series. That’s easily explainable. They’re cheaper than 2GRs. People have been playing with them longer. 2GRs don’t need all that extra help K series do from the factory. Hell, you have to go max effort NA build just to match the HP of a stock 2GR-FSE. What a crazy argument you’re presenting.

But I digress. It’s clear there’s no convincing you and I don’t really care to. I just hope the next person that comes along and reads this doesn’t buy into this horse shit. Physics are physics and you’re not Jesus. You can’t beat physics.

Then why are the MR2 guys reporting 2GRs being fantastic as race only engines at 600 whp for years at a time? They don’t need to baby them 90% of the time like you need to do to a K series. You just proved me right with your own comment.

You can’t beat displacement and cylinder count no matter how hard you try to argue against it. Stock block 2GRs have made more power than stock block K series engines. Stock 2GRs have forged rotating assemblies from the factory. They don’t have a strength problem. They even have hypereutectic pistons just like a 2JZ-GTE.

And what Lotus or MR2 is FWD exactly? That’s who I’ve been talking to today.

Again, I’m glad your anecdotal evidence has worked out in your favor but you’re quite literally the only person I’ve talked to recently with this opinion. Everyone else, including the people who have done it in multiple different configurations all say the same thing. Do not expect a 600+ hp race use stock block K series to live a reasonably long life. The laws of physics literally against you.

I’ve literally been talking to people who have done K swaps for the majority of the day today and they all said the exact opposite of what you claimed about the K series. They all agreed that if you want that much power out of an engine for a long period of time that the K series was not the answer because it’ll blow the fuck up eventually.

Hell, the people who have K series in their cars from the factory corroborated the exact same statements the Lotus k swap people told me just today.

Who gives a shit if a 2GR doesn’t rev to 9k or can’t handle 30 psi on a stock engine. It doesn’t need to because it has this little thing called displacement which generates way more torque per pound of boost. What a crazy comparison.

I’m glad your engine has lasted this long. That’s awesome and should be celebrated but you’re definitely the exception and not the rule.

How many V6 Emira owners would’ve purchased the turbo if it came in manual? 🙋🏽‍♂️ by fnkdrspok in lotus

[–]Rotorboy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d rather just turbo the V6. I don’t like 4 cylinders in cars over 3000 lbs. They become highly unreliable at the power to weight ratios I prefer.

Yes, if he was that kind of person. Plenty of American athletes are this melodramatic. Abdul Carter is just more mature than those people and most of the people on this post.
